Isnt the term co-headliner meaningless anyway. The headliner is the band who plays last, the term co-headliner is just an ego boost for the band not headlining. The only time there would be a true co-headliner is if the top 2 bands played reading and leeds and switched position.

I think he means that the co-headliners would get paid the same amount, even though one is playing above the other. I can quite easily believe that the Libertines got paid the same or more than Arcade Fire last year and although Win Butler referred to them co-headlining (jokingly I hope) it's clear that Arcade Fire were the headliners.

Unless a festival announces them as co-headliners then no matter how much we guess that they're getting paid or how close we think they are in terms of profile and popularity they ain't co-headliners.

If you listen closely, Leto actually says 'We can't w-we would die to play reading and leeds'. I think he was about to say 'we can't wait to play reading and leeds' but then obviously had to change what he was saying for obvious reasons. Looks like we're going to get them by what I heard. Obviously I could be wrong though!

So saying he'll die is just a casual comment then?

At the time they weren't as big as they are now, they were playing venues like Koko and I've seen bands that weren't even headlining the Lock Up stage play there around the same time. What it does show is FR aren't inclined to book them as they have never played before and not booked after making their intrest (which what a bands do with the media to get fest bookings) shown.

Have you even watched the interview?

The interview was only last year - if they get booked this year then they'll have been booked after making their interest known. They headlined the second stage at Download and subbed The Prodigy on the second stage at T last year - I've no idea how many times they've appeared at British festivals (and which ones) prior to that so until I do, them not playing Reading before doesn't really mean a lot.
