Hoping to see more new bands this year (bar queues are always a bit easier nearby too).

Read that Go North will be doing a 'festival tour' but no plans for Rockness though where its been for the past few years.

Go North comes to The Wickerman

For the first time, this year we will be welcoming the fine people from goNORTH to the Wickerman as they host a stage at the festival as part of their inaugural goNorth Festival Tour.

goNORTH was launched in 2001 and describes itself as a Festival for contemporary and cutting edge music of all genres highlighting the best emerging talent from Scotland, the rest of the UK, and a selection of international contenders. goNORTH takes place in Inverness in on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th June 2011.

Submissions are now open for goNORTH 2011 and the acts selected to showcase at goNORTH 2011 will also be eligible to appear on the goNORTH stage at Wickerman on Friday 22nd and Saturday 23rd July.

Acts who wish to apply should visit www.sonicbids.com/gonorth. Please note that only acts who apply via sonicbids will be considered.

Shaun Arnold, goNORTH's Festival Director, has been a friend of the Wickerman for a while and told us we are a great festival and, an excellent environment to showcase some of the most exciting emerging bands in the country. We think theyll fit in to Wickerman very well.

Are Wickerman getting rid of the the solus stage then? Shame if they do. Watched a band called There Will Be Fireworks in there last year. Epic!!!! Hopefully they will play Rockness.
