Im glad Leeds goers were more open and let the guy play his set

It was very strange though, he didnt finish a single song just played each one 2/3rds through and then the Dj would play a load of gunshot sounds

50 Cent was ok at Leeds and was quite well recieved. I'm glad as it was my mates first fest and he's really into 50 Cent so he had a great time.

As for Jay Z or Kanye West, I would only take Jay Z at R&L but I wouldn't have him headline.

I just feel Reading and Leeds are the only festivals that havent really adapted to Rap music the way Glasto or V have.

When I think of Reading and Leeds, I think of Rock n Roll and Indie. Rap just doesnt fit but I would love to be proven wrong.

Reading adapted to rap a long time ago, both Public Enemy and Cypress Hill have headlined in the past (as well as Eminem) and various acts have been dotted around the line-up. What it hasn't adapted to with the verve of V or Glasto is modern chart RnB/rap, even though Dizzee Rascal has been a roaring success and Jay Z has been booked to play on the main stage before but pulled out. 50 Cent was a disaster at Reading but some you win, some you lose.

R&L is primarily a rock/indie/punk festival, I don't see why it should be ashamed of that. Sure it may not be as into modern chart RnB/rap acts as much as other festivals but it's still open to rap music, it just has to be the right acts.

They've had Wiley, Lethal Bizzle, Jurassic 5, Sway, Roots, Lady Sovereign, Ice T and a few others too in the last few years but like mrtourette said they don't have many charts acts which I'm grateful for. I was flicking through the TV and a Tinie Tempah vid popped up the other night and at 1st I thought it was meant to be a self parody and as it went along I realised it wasn't, I would hate shit like that filling the stages.

Rap acts would certainly be welcome. If anyone was to sub I would like it to be Jay-Z, but lower down I would love if Mos Def or MF DOOM where there. Not sure if DOOM is some sort of exclusive because he is playing ATP with Portishead, I believe

Jay Z would be a fantastic sub. Public Enemy would be great too (damn you bestival!) and as painful as it is to admit it, Kanye West is supposed to be very good live. Shame about the man himself though.

Mos Def seems to get mentioned on here all the time for the FR stage, but nothing ever comes of it.
