Acquiesce.
Hey all, first post in almost a year! My cousin and myself are travelling to Glastonbury for the first time this year, from Glasgow. I was hoping that someone could help us on our travel options (outwith the National Express bus service) as we are looking to explore all routes before booking our way. All help is greatly appreciated!
Toilet Duck
Glasgow to Bristol with easy jet, taxi to the festival (about 40 minutes depending on when you ar travelling)...by far the quickest way.
pehaw
40 minutes or 8 hours if you're unlucky.
Solero
We are flying down with Easyjet and hiring car at the airport, working out reasonably cheap between 4 of us. (about £100 for car hire) Got a taxi from Bristol airport in 05 and worked like a dream, was only £40 for taxi and he stopped off at bevvy shop for supplies. Coach in 07 took about 13hrs and was very grim!!
coma girl
If you decide not to fly then try a left share, we got a minibus down last year from Glasgow that was organised on these boards and are doing the same this year. It was a great way to meet people and get in the festival mood (also cost less than half of what National Express were charging.)
Guy Rope Tripper
think I might try & get a ticket this year in the re-sale & head down from glasgow, take it ths minibus mentioned is full??
Alan L
I flew with Easjyet obn Tuesday last year and stayed in a Travelodge in Bristol on the Tuesday night then caught the National Express coach from Bristol to the festival. Bristol to Glastonbury took about 2.5 hours, as I recall. The driver took a convoluted route which avoided the worst of the traffic until we hit Glastonbury town. This year, we're flying down on the Wednesday morning and will most likely get the airport bus into Bristol, buy some supplies then take the National Express to the festival in the afternoon. jeangenie
Hi guys, I am new to this forum so hello!! I am going to Glastonbury this year (for the first time) and all the people I am going with are heading there from different places and I am the only one in Scotland. Does anyone have a space on a bus, or know of the cheapest way of getting there if travelling alone? I may even get down to London and go with my friends, thought I would check anyway. Thanks
theampersanddevil
Not getting down until the Thursday morning First flight outta Glasgow to Bristol, then the train and the bus. All in about the same price as the National Express and hopefully about half the time.
scappaflow
I generally drive down and as long as there is someone to share the driving with on the way back, I think that's the best way. However if I didn't drive, it would def be a flight for me, then bus or taxi. A 12 hour+ coach journey does not sound appealing. Going down may be ok, but the way back would be torture! preacherman_1
in 09 I flew easyjet to bristol then airport bus to the temple meads (think that was the name of the station) and then festie shuttle bus to the site, worked out about £25 for the return bus journeys as the airport one was valid for 30 days, worked out slightly more expensive than a coach etc. but I did get my ticket at the end of may that year so not a lot of time to arrange travel and what not & had I booked a few months in advance I'm certain it would be the cheapest option. Last year took the national express coach roughly £100 return left the wednesday night around 11ish slept most of the way there arrived at the site about 7ish on the thursday morning, way back left around 8 or 9 in the morning arrived back in glasgow around 5 or 6ish, I personally didn't find it that bad but again I did sleep most of the way there & back.
