langerabend
I have actually seen Mogwai live. I saw them at the Slint ATP several years ago and I they were one of the more enjoyable bands of the weekend. I also liked a song that accompanied an EOTR video (This one, I'm in it during Stagecoach), "Fears Satan" or something. Although I listened to it again during the week and was less impressed. Anyway, I'm waffling, I REALLY like Sigur Ros, have done ever since I saw them supporting GYBE at the Royal Festival Hall all those years ago, but as a general ruling post-rock just tires me out. Probably because of the lack of vocals. Mogwai headlining just means I'll get the opportunity to check someone else out on one of the other 3 stages. shoebox
is it your bag the guitarist steps on? I really would like to know who you are in that vid...
Sipperana
Never a truer word, old chum. I frequently have little fantasies in which I read that HOTS have reformed and are touring. Saw them only once, love them dearly and they were one of only a very small number of bands whose premature demise made me genuinely upset. Any other bands fit into that category for anyone? Sipperana
Nah, I never take a bag to gigs (Christ! There were trip hazards EVERYWHERE at the Iron & Wine gig last night). I'm barely visible to be fair and I only spotted myself because I remember the moment clearly. I just pop into shot towards the end of the guitarists jaunt into the crown. Grey and mauve striped hoodie, dicking around with a camera as I desperately try to catch a close-up action shot. Blink and you'll miss it. Sipperana
Best of luck with Timber Timbre, Langerhans. They were the single most miserable and unfriendly band I've ever seen. Telling a girl not to take their photo was the final straw - and this was in Rough Trade East FFS, hardly the O2. Suffice it to say they're on my perpetual EOTR don'twishlist. shoebox
Oh and DDAHSW were great, nice to see outrageous quiffs and spangly jumpsuits are back

shoebox
I saw Timber Timbre supporting Broken Social Scene and it was hard work. I didn't dislike it, but it wasn't particularly enjoyable. Very sombre. Don't mind them on record though.
langerabend
Snap. I'd looked forward to seeing them/him at EOTR last year following strong recommendations from The Wilderness Of Manitoba, so when they went missing from EOTR and then played at the Hoxton Bar, I went along. Most miserable and tedious show I'd seen for years, surpassing even the previous title holder Christian Kjellvander. I was told twice not to take photos (I only took two) because it was "disrespectful to the artist". Pissed me of so much I felt obliged to buy the support band's CD. palace-eagle
i think the lineup so far is great. not too familiar with mogwai but from what ive heard they will be fantastic live, i love beirut, midlake, micah p hinson, the walkmen and liking a lot from what ive heard of the others
shoebox
I love reading Tweets like this, it conjures up all sorts of mad-ass things in my head: alexandercapes @EOTR line-up is taking shape nicely... and there's a BIG announcement still to come (it's a doozy)

shoebox
I'm sorry. If it's any consolation, I kind of regret reading it as well. Got all sorts of high hopes again now, when I'd just got used to the fact that how much I like the headliners is a moot point as I'll be enjoying myself anyway. Now I've got Bowie making me weep with an epic set on the Garden Stage buzzing around my foolish head.
bennyhana22
Just listening to the new Mogwai record...it's gonna be good, you know. You'll be a PR fanboy by the time we've finished with you... Ben
shoebox
NEVER! I added all the Mogwai albums to my EOTR Spotify playlist and stuck it on shuffle last night. Every time they came on after the first one, I was fairly sure I'd heard it already. Categorically "not for me"
Infinite Jest
I was at the show in Brum last night. I'll second the recommendation for Blind Pilot, very EOTR friendly.
RedRockRick
Since noone else has done so, I'd like to take this opportunity to lodge a formal complaint about the spelling of "tuessday". You don't get lyrics in Mogwai songs demonstrating this kind of slackness.
Infinite Jest
The Electric Picnic is taking place the same weekend as EoTR, and the lineup has just been announced. A lot of overlap with EoTR: Beirut, Midlake, Twin Shadow, Willy Mason, Caitlin Rose, Health, Mogwai, The Walkmen and Micah P. Hinson (and Pulp, if we assume Jarvis will DJ EoTR ). Which is interesting, because also playing Electric Picnic are....PJ Harvey and Interpol. I suspect the odds of one of those two being the third headliner may just have dropped. (And seeing as I'm speculating: DJ Shadow or Death in Vegas for the 'Caribou slot'? The Charlatans or Sinead O'Connor? I'm going to take a wild guess that we don't get Pulp, Arcade Fire or Chemical Brothers...)

Sipperana
With you there Ben, Peej would be fantastic. I've only seen her once, back when she was touring To Bring You My Love. That was one of only two gigs I ever went to at the short-lived Que Club in Brum, the other was Pulp, and both still easily rank up among at least my top 20, if not top 10 all-time gigs. Sipperana
I don't know what The Local's policy for booking bands is but they should look into The Vessel and his crew. Good to hear they were on form. Did you get Pimlico and Cookie?
Infinite Jest
I don't mind Interpol, I enjoyed the one show of theirs I've seen, but I'd vote for PJ as well. If I had a vote. Which I should.
shoebox
I'd vote for PJ. Interpol have a handful of decent songs but they fail to keep my attention for any length of time. It'd be like that Big Train sketch with Ralph McTell. "PLAY EVIL!" "Erm, we've already done that twice..." "EVIL!" "Oh, alright...."
