Free beer

My daughter is adamant that if you turn up with last year's band on your wrist, and ask on entry, you get given a beer. I can't believe it (and have never heard of it in the years I've been going) but she is certain. Can someone confirm that this is just one of those teenage urban myths?

Im sure Carling used to do this at some festivals (never Glastonbury as far as I know though.) They also used to do a Carling Amnesty- swap any can of any lager for a cold carling. I think (though I may be wrong), that this has stopped now.)

Ahh, thanks for that. I know Carling Amnesty wasn't at IOW 2009- didnt go last year, and hey kids- dont do drinking- you'll end up with false memories. (Thought it was Reading/leeds where a free drink was given to first 100 or something. Obviously an urban myth becoming entrenched.)

Because you could buy extremely cheap own brand lager from supermarkets and then go and change them. It might taste like piss but it's tastier than Sainsburys own brand 32p ale

Just think about this?

If they did offer a free beer. How would they stop people getting loads of them?

They'd need to take your band off you, and I'm pretty sure if you'd kept it on all year you would not be willing to cut it off for a £3.50 beer.
