Tsunami warnings on several countries as far as Hawaii. Australia has been added now too. 8.8 is pretty heavy. This really isn't going to be good.

The only thing is that the warning systems do seem to be working and lots of the places due to be affected have got time to prepare on some level.

Just keeping everything crossed and praying for everyone involved.

I was actually wondering would I give it a go - and i reckon if I had something terminal wrong with me - I probably would hire a 'copter and drop out of it onto it - what a way to go.

Edited to add - on a body board obviously I've not surfed in years and lasting one nano-second would be a bit crap!

If theres a country in the word prepared to react to an earthquake, its Japan. I wouldnt be amazed if the casualties aren't massive - it will be nowhere near the 250,000 figure that were killed by the Haiti earthquake. Compare the death toll in the Haiti earthquake to that of Chile, despite Chile's being far bigger. As good an argument as any for organised democracy
