Prehaps all of the "Average download goers" went to see RATM and left all the teen girls to watch 30STM

I remember it being said that there were 80,000 at RATM, and considering there was about 100,00 altogether that means a very small crowd (comparatively at least).

And I'd of also said that 30STM fit in with the Download demographic at at least as much as R+L.

So alternatively we're looking at The Offspring, Soundgarden, Pixies or Beasties and all of them have doubts. REM aren't doing any festivals, Prodigy aren't playing, The Darkness are doing download and both Daft Punk and Tool are probably too big and it's unlikely that either would play during daylight.

Any other ideas?

I had a ton in the 3rd headliner thread but most seem like 3rd place acts apart from Jay Z who is a big sub and has been under weirder acts like Linkin Park, Coldplay etc doesn't seems likely but f**king better then 30STM.

Aren't BFMV subbing Download? I'd be surprised if the same band subbed both festivals.

I don't think Placebo would sub, third or fourth at the most. VR could do but Slipknot are on the festival circuit so are VR going to have time to be able to prepare with their new singer? No idea about Jane's Addiction. I think they have an album planned for the Summer but are they too far out of the loop?

Similar things have happened before with Prodigy playing both R&L & Download the same year and they have shared mainstage acts before.

With FR's logic them not playing since NIN tour might mean exclusive comeback or some shit like that, but 3rd on top seems more likely.

i dont think they should sub if they play i think they would be good for a sing along maybi 3rd or 4th (i no they headlined last time but does anyone really a fan of them anymore?)........ Maybi they are the big guitar band

I'll just mention it even if it does seem unlikely, Smashing Punmpkins playing as a sub. New album (kinda anyway) to promote, Download were intrested in booking them as a non-headliner and MCR has said before they are fans of them.

I think most people would say the same about Pixies, Soundgarden, Beasties, etc. The fact that MCR are current seems to put them above 'bigger' bands who haven't played in a while.

Pumpkins subbing MCR would be absolutely disgusting.

...but of course Pumpkins headlining this year would be a bit silly. They've got very little to add to '07. There's a lot of other bands they could book for that position, I don't know why they'd pick SP...
