If they played like they used to I'd go see them, they turned themselves into "fashion icons" and last year all Ian did was make sure his hair was ok.

Well I hope you're right Yellow as anyone in there would be better than 30STM. Except Lostprophets, who would be equally as bad. I also doubt The Offsprig are big enough to sub, probably play third, I just hope that 30STM play down the bill and there's a sub-headliner like Soundgarden/Pixies/Beasties/Flaming Lips/Smashing Pumpkins/please God somebody anybody please.

Yeah I'd say they're all too big to sub but I doubt the averge R&L attendee (especially one wanting to see MCR headline, if that's the target audience for R&L) knows anything about Soundgarden or the Pumpkins. That's what makes me think they'd get put in to sub.

I could honestly see any of those acts subbing, they're all less popular to the R&L crowds than they would've been in the past. This has been proven by the size of the crowds for The Pumpkins and Pixies in recent years.

i hope offspring are playing same day (i.e. MCR day) as that will mean no strokes clash, which seems to be appearing in most predictions.

Yes Offspring are playing MCR day along with 30 Seconds to Mars, Rise Against, Deftones and New Found Glory.

N Strokes and Muse are def other 2 headliners. Not sure who else is playing those 2 days all I got told is there's alot of indie

For me having a different sub would completely change the festival. It's one thing that they're shit, but it's also a statement putting a band like this in a such position and it's a statement that doesn't sit well with my circumstances.

I don't really care, I care more about the fact there isn't a good alternative. What am I going to do after the offspring? Beady eye, and the horrors no thankyou. Hoping for a strong Lock up but can't really see it happening.

I've spoken a lot about how much I like Arcade Fire, and how I think FR were right to give them a shot at headlining, and for the same reason I haven't been particularly outspoken about MCR headlining, even though I don't particularly like them. But last year they put The Libertines, an undeniably massive sub-headliner, below Arcade Fire in order to cover the risk. But this year, below MCR who are beginning to look more and more risky, it's 30 Seconds to Mars. Just makes it look very weak, and outside of fans of the two bands (who undoubtedly do exist, but it's hardly everyone) there's very, very limited appeal.

I was expecting something a completely different style of band to be sub to MCR (like Reading Sunday '08 & Saturday '09).
