if your thinking of sony theres an outlet on the sony site where they sell off older models and returns cheap, I picked up a £2200 z series for around £750 6 months ago, think the solid state drive is worth £400 on its own.

shitting hell, why won't the saveonlaptops work no internet explorer at my work? and i can't download firefox or anything instead. bollocks!

I buy the CE series viaos for my grad students...for the price they are great laptops and they are lasting for the duration of their PhDs (so 3-4 years). Compared to the HP you are looking at, the specs are similar in terms of performance, however, the sony has a great screen and I personally love the isolated keys...find them much easier to type with. (the new HP Probook 5310m is nice though, but a lot more than 500 quid)...As for the Lenovo, most of the criticism about the keyboard is that it isn't full, but rather a laptop style keyboard...anyway, go for the Sony!

i got lenovo cos it was easier and cheaper. seen a mac style keyboard for 12 quid so may get that if the keyboard is w*nk
