Just got back from the Rise Against gig at Electric Ballroom where during the set Tim Mcilrath proclaimed "We will see you again soon. And maybe next time infront of 50,000 people"

At least I think thats what he said, something along those lines. Forgive me if im wrong!

not really a fan of Rise Against anymore, but they play some stuff from the 2nd and 3rd album i'd go and see them

1st off - lucky bugger getting to see them last night, to far away from me still holding out for big UK tour.

So that hopefully means they will be at R/L and main stage maybe?

Dont think them playing was ever in doubt, but good find.

I think its an odd placement. I think its the same slot limp bizkit had last year who are a lot better known to your average festival goer. I think rise against are decent and would suit second or third in the nme tent. I think on the main they will be like brand new a few years back with no atmosphere because most of the crowd dont know who they are. While I think some band like less than jake, drop kicks and reel big fish can wow a crowd who dont know their songs, I think rise against will find it harder.

Or you could say it's the same slot as NOFX, who your average R1 music fan knows the same about. Rise Against sold out Brixton Academy last time they properly toured over here, so for the general rock audience they're in the right position.

I think nofx are a little different, to me they would have more appeal to someone who doesnt know their music. Rise against no doubt have a solid fan base but to me they arent a main stage band. A band like pigeon detectives will probably go down better because despite playing smaller venues they will probably be better known to your average joe on the main stage.

I hope they don't get the same sort of reception as Modest Mouse got last year where people turn up for one or two songs. I saw them last summer at Rock am Ring subbing for Rammstein (Rise Against are massive in Germany apparently) and they were amazing, one of the bands of that weekend for me. I think the sequence of Rise Against, Deftones and The Offspring is awesome, after them three I'm gonna have to retreat to the NME tent to have a nap during White Lies.

I was watching rock AM ring over the net this year and rise against looked immense. If anyone is in doubt about them playing a big open stage just youtube that performance
