No Papa Roach

Just reading Andy Copping's twitter and he confirms what many of us didn't want to here, but they aren't playing this year. He's flat out said it, so its not a trying to throw off the scent thing. They're just not playing. Shame, wonder where they'll end up, surely at Soni?

This forum astounds me!!! Most people seem to think The Darkness are awful, terrible musicians, deserving of a slot in the tent at best etc. yet the same people have Papa Roach as one of their most wanted bands for the entire festival?! Each to their own and all that, but I really don't get this one! If there's a band in particular that's embarrasing to rock music, it isn't The Darkness!

They were pretty poor in 2009. Not a big loss. However it's daft to compare them to the Darkness because they're not being talked up to wrongfully occupying a spot sub-headlining the mainstage. I imagine Papa Roach, if playing mainstage, would be about 5th on the bill, which is roughly where the Darkness should be That would make the difference between pissing people off (which they are now) and people enjoying the blast from the past (which could have happened if they were lower down). The fact is the Darkness are occupying a spot that should have been given to a more credible band... or Nickelback.

The response to The Darkness booking on the DL forums has been more positive than negative. I think you're confusing your personal opinion with that of the majority of people, from the people who aren't pleased with the booking the majority seem to have claimed they'd be watching Korn regardless of who was announced for that slot anyway!?!

If you honestly think that The Darkness would play 5th when Limp Bizkit played 3rd on their return, considering The Darkness were bigger than Bizkit in the UK at their respective peaks you're mental. The Darkness reunion has garnered mainstream press attention & will be one of the big story's of the festival (along with SOAD). Personal taste aside saying they should be 5th main is just daft.

The rumours came from them supposedly self confirming at a signing when they were over here for Taste of Chaos so it either fell through or someone just decided to make up the self confirm.

Oh and in 2009 I think the sound on 2nd stage screwed up peoples enjoyment of them. I've seen them numerous times since and they are amazing live.
