chappiepunk
So the French are seemingly targeting the Libyan army, reports they have destroyed some Libyan tanks. Lots more countries are expected to be getting involved soon, all the usual suspects. Whats your thoughts on this? Surely something has to be done to stop the situation getting out of control. Bisque
The RAF are specialists at no-fly zones, see Bosnia/pre Iraq invasion, even when we were using the outdated Jaguar aircraft. The French would never be able to seemingly "take out" installations/SAM sites without a huge amount of paper work & pre-checks. Something needs to be done, whether getting other nations with superior firepower (the French have sent Rafale's) is a matter of debate however... here we go! lifelessfool
I think the thing with Libya is, its pretty obvious something needs to be done. But its quite complex as to what should be done, who should do it and that sort of thing. I don't think you can just leave it to the rebel fighters in Libya to overturn the ruler although that would be ideal. But if anything more than a no fly zone is set up, I think it gets too complex as with all humanitarian intervention. I think Britain and USA should play a limited role, with bad reputation prior etc. But then again what do I know. Also in no way relevant just 3 days prior to the uprising my dads company was near finalising a deal with the bank of Libya for some form of banking equipment. The Nal
Its all kicking off now. Rebels storming Gadhafis compound. Live stream here. The revolution will be televised. I find its funnier if you play the Logjammin theme from the Big Lebowski in the background and also leave the sound on from Libya while they all shout in Arabic and shoot the place up. Ed209
Those international journalists trapped by Gaddaffi forces in the Roxio Hotel have finally been able to escape. Shame he died, Rebel forces could do with Frank Drebin.

jump
There's unconfirmed reports that Gaddafi has now been captured. Apparently he's been shot in both legs and is currently in an ambulance on his way to hospital. Edited October 20, 2011 by jump

eFestivals
not sure how true this might be - there's been endless reports before of capturing various sons and the spokesman, and none have been true.

eFestivals
NTC are saying he is dead some of the reports are definitely bollocks - for example, I've heard he was captured in a "hole in the ground", but also that he was in a convoy that was fleeing the city that was bombed by NATO. eFestivals
Saying that its looking like he has been captured now... he possibly has, tho he might have been "captured" as much as various sons and his spokesman have been on numerous occasions.
