Role Model
Really surprised they're as high up as they are, but not complaining at all. Fantastic booking.
Joe-
Not really. I could name a thousand quality acts that would've been better placed than some dull-as-dishwater indie borefest; The Black Keys, Minus the Bear, Magnetic Man, Big Audio Dynamite, Rancid, Sound Garden.... etc etc ad nauseum. It's a poor line-up.

hazzamid11
headlining Latitude, easily worthy of a 3rd headline spot.
mooseman
I wish that the audience that reading attracts was more open minded than saying shit like who are such and such, they shouldn't be there/that high up etc. I know alot of the bands on the line up but I hadn't heard of death from above 1979 before, I've had a quick listen and think they are great and wondered how I had never heard of them. cwaite123
I think they are amazing and deserve the slot especially with their latest album High Violet! But i do think Festival Republic put them as headlining Latitude to justify their placement at R+L
Matticus
yeah im gunna sound like a snob now but its only because the media portryal that going to festivals is what british people do in the summer, and gave them an image that made people who before hand didnt give a shit suddenly feel compelled to go because of pop culture. So most of the crowd at Reading would much prefer watching The only way is essex or the latest internet viral video then go out of thier way to check out or appreciate anything that isn't widley accepted as cool or hyped by radio 1. The vibe at the festival is awfu nowadays as its full of girls who plaster make up on every morning ( at a festival?!) and dudes in topman t shirts and a JLS haircut or a straw hat who think Vampire Weekend/Mumford & Sons are the best thing to ever happen to the music industry. Its become clone city.
Matticus
I've already promised a mate I'll go to reading with him. Bestival is too close. I won't get the time off work. But yes, Bestival does look better.
Vieuphoria
Sorry to be stupid but who are these guys and are they worthy of a 3rd from top spot?! Dont even get me started on elbow and 30 seconds to mars...
mrtourette
Last band to headline Latitude and play R&L in the same year...Arcade Fire.

Vanderlyle
That's England. Need to put up with 30 secs of their fairly average banter first.... I would also check out About Today (the SPIN live version). Or any of their Glastonbury 2010 gig.
rexclark
The National are fantastic. They were amazing last year at Glastonbury.

fat_man_joe
Anyone who doesn't think Elbow deserve second spot is just an idiot. Even if you don't like them they have become massive since Seldom Scene Kid, won a mercury prize, actually got play on Radio 1 (which is big news for a band of that genre)... and played comic relief for f**k sake. I'm surprised the National are 3rd actually, but I wouldn't have put them lower than 4th. They have a huge cult following.
Festival Liam
I'd love to hear you "get started" on Elbow... as they are probably one of the best placings in the line up.
VCK
I was quite surprised to see this actually. I know 2011 has been a good year for them but they've always remained somewhat "obscure". I certainly wouldn't say they're on the level of Biffy Clyro, Dizzee Rascal and Weezer. Mind you we always get a "surprisingly high American Indie band" - Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Raconteurs all surprised me with their positions when they've played before. Friendly Fires 4th though?

shoptildrop
I dont really have a problem with elbow but they are boring as hell in my opinion, they shouldnt be below muse, just wont work.
Vanderlyle
to be honest I think the bands running up to Muse are great flow and me n the fella will be at main stage from Friendly fires onwards me thinks Elbow are solid live band and deserve that slot! fat_man_joe
Yeah Elbow will be great there as it gets dark. They're widely regarded as one of the best live acts around, and rightly so. Not to mention just the sort of band who wouldn't lose a lot of what makes them so good just because they're outside. Anyone who disagrees obviously hasn't seen the classic Glasto performance of One Day Like This.
iamcoolyeah
Can't wait to see these guys, one of my favourite bands. Was so happy to see them in the lineup after it looked unlike that they'd be playing due to already headlining latitude. For anyone that hasn't listened to them, get 'Alligator' and 'Boxer'. I remember when i first listened to them a couple of times and didn't think it was anything special, but then suddenly it clicked.
Mariner
Thing is, you listened to 30 seconds of a band and then judged them. Which makes you a touch moronic.
