I did mention that Reading had, perhaps, lost some of its younger crowd, and that there are greater draws elsewhere, so it isn't exactly contrary, but i can see where you're coming from. Maybe you're replying to someone else, not sure.

As has been said, Reading doesn't really appeal to those over 25, it certainly isn't the target demographic. i don't feel this is a matter of the exclusion of music appealing to over 25's, but rather the inclusion of bands that appeal to under 25's. Which brings with it the problems associated with the young. This is what i mean by alienation of an older audience, whether it be by design or not. That said, we camped next to a middle aged couple in green last year, nice they were too, despite our twattery.

I didn't say Reading was evolving slowly, i said it could possibly be moving away from what is emerging today as new popular music. Certainly it's changing and "evolving".

Sorry, couldn't be bothered to quote everyone, but it's clear what's applicable to each response.

No Glasto will help them out (although I don't consider them competing festivals for a few reasons).

I remember Reading '06 had a different crowd to the previous year due tot the influx of Glasto goers. Not massively different, but was noticeable around campsite (different fashion, a lot more E than weed & people moaning there was nothing to do after 12) & in places in the arena (the dance tent was a lot busier than I have ever seen it, indie bands got a bigger draw on the smaller stages). Was a while ago but I remember chatting to my friends about it at the campsite.

I don't think they've gone for guaranteed ticket sales this year, I think if anything they've taken risks (MCR/30STM together, The National 'too high'). I hope that ticket sales this year doesn't stop them taking risks in the future as they also work out well (ie Arcade Fire last tear).
