I just hope the line-up doesn't get leaked early like it did this year. Part of what makes the official announcement so great is the suspense leading up to it and the surprises when you finally see that yellow poster for the first time, which I didn't get in March.

For a start, it may be the most famous, but it is no way the greatest, I've seen it. Secondly, its Nirvana, who are such an average band, and are only as famous as they are due to one man in the band and that is not Dave grohl.

And lastly, I am a fan of Nirvana, I own all of their albums, but they are average, and I stand by what I said above. I also like most of Foo Fighter's material, and respect Dave Grohl as an artist, but I don't think he deserves such special treatment as to be considered to have a day of his own. And I know its just a concept that is up for discussion, but I just get bored of people absolutely rimming foo fighters and Dave grohl when there are much better artists musically and historically.

As for foo fighters being "the reading band", they've only played a couple of times. Bloc Party have played LOADS and always get a huuuuge crowd. I'm not comparing the two, but if anyone is the reading band over the last decade then its got to be bloc party.

gawd its just past xmas and the arguments are raging.

who cares if u do or dont like the foo fighters, im sure if they are booked there will be a few suitable alternatives.

anyway as for the dave grohl day things, is a bit overboard imo but would be interesting to see who would be on that day - doubt it will happen though.

Van Halen anyone??

The Dave Grohl day would be a bit OTT, but whether you liked Nirvana and like the Foo Fighters or not you have to acknowledge his input in Nirvana, Nirvana's history with Reading, the Foos current position in the world of rock, their history with Reading and how much most people who would attend love Dave Grohl.

As with most arguments about line-ups whether they're good or not is a pretty redundant argument as we all have different tastes, it's more about perceiving how well it would work with the masses.
