No chance playing r&l.

Bestival/latitude a good chance if there touring by then. Which I hope they do play some festivals, in my top 5 all time artists.

Grindermen were brilliant last year saw them 3 times, been to long since i saw the bad seeds.

Why is there no chance of them playing r&l?

Granted, I'd say that there is next to no chance of them headlining the NME stage - but they played the fest several times in the early 90's; Iggy Pop and Ian Brown have both played high up the main stage in recent years; music critics (including the NME) still consider Nick Cave to be a pretty cool fella. Its more likely that they will headline another smaller fest but its hardly out of the question for them to play - a Sunday top four of the following would hardly look ridiculous would it?

Foo Fighters

Biffy Clyro

Nick Cave & the Bad Seeds

The Gaslight Anthem

Good. That would be a great way of breaking up some of the more routine suggestions. They would polarise the crowd nicely and generate the broader appeal. Given a choice, I'd watch them rather than the more tedious and sometimes unreliable 'Reading' bands like KOL or RHCP.

I really cannot believe how many people are believing that Jay Z is going to headline and really cannot see the basis on peoples thinking behind it.

I would be a major change from R+L's usual headliners - They go with Indie, Rock, etc. I know people are saying 'Well Glasto had him', but Glastonbury is completely different to R+L. They cover many more genres than R+L and can get away with it, like they can have Beyonce headlining. R+L doesn't cover that many. They have a few rap acts down the bill to cover the genre, but not headlining in a long while. After not selling out last year I can't see why they would go with such a risky act away from the usual genres that headline the fest. Especially not an act that is guaranteed to sell the tickets. Eminem would definitely, but Jay Z? The album with Kanye didn't do that great over here and I'm not sure if it garnered that much airplay. Hardly an act guaranteed to shift the tickets.

A lot of people are saying Jay Z and Kanye but why? Theres no basis on why they would be coming over here to tour together. Neither have come out and said they're touring Europe and tbh I don't think they will. Yes they toured the US but that's because they were playing stadiums. Ie it was financially correct to tour over there. But would it be here? No because they have to be able to play the same size venues which they wouldn't be able to do. Or they'd need a half decent amount of festival appearances to make it correct for their bank balance. But really who would stump the cash up? Especially which festivals around R+L's so they are in Europe come the end of August? My thinking is clearly not enough festivals!

Ok maybe theres an outside chance. But with a lot of people sticking it in their predictions you'd think there was substantial evidence for it which I'm struggling to see.

There's more out there than just that to point towards them playing. I think you have to remember R&L is a very different festival to what it was a couple of years ago. The demographic and make-up of the crowd has changed, making a booking like Jay/Kanye more acceptable. People seem to be forgetting Jay had already booked to headline R&L, as well as people in the same kind of genre as Jay/Kanye previously headlining and having very high slots at the fest. Add that to FR having booked Kanye for The Big Chill last year, it puts them definitely in with a shout.

I don't see how Rammstein are likely for any UK festivals this summer, they have spent years turning them down and Soni only got them because it was a package deal to do all the Euro Soni dates.

AC could of just as easily been talking about Soundgarden, Tenacious D, Foos or any other number of bands.

I reckon Jay-Z would sell loads of tickets and would I love him to play, Kanye would be a huge bonus. They're the two biggest male stars on the planet imo. Jay-Z is considered by many to be the greatest rapper of all time. But I don't think it'll happen :L The Killers would be great and Green Day would be even better. As would Rammstein but I can't see that either, I think they're just as much of a variant from the normal reading bookings as Jay-Z would be. But I'd love either. Looking forward to Foo's anyhow.

Jay-Z & Kanye on a UK fest exclusive would sell a hell of a lot of tickets, I just don't see why they'd risk playing Reading/Leeds when T in the Park, V Fest, Wireless, etc would be more catered to their main audience. It would be a good booking in my opinion, Kanye was brilliant at Big Chill last year (minus the rant) but I can't see it happening.
