Smashing Pumpkins would be great but difficult to place. Recent material doesn't seem to have been received particularly well and so they haven't come anywhere since their '07 performance (NIN and SP, that night). You couldn't possibly have them in the tent but at the same time them subbing doesn't feel right. I'll conclude that 2012 they'll headline the Other Stage at Glasto...

A guy a while back sais that it's not defo by any means but a source of his seemed to reckon Blur were playing Hyde July, more towards the end if I remember correctly.

Blur ARE playing Hyde Park - efests has been saying this longer than anyone else. We have solid info about it.

it's because we're not 100% on which set of events in Hyde Park they'll be playing at. But we know they're playing Hyde Park.

Just noticed that The Black Keys have sold out three nights at Ally Pally, that's pretty heavy. I can see them playing third if they are on the bill.

Indeed you have. As i have said and thought for a while that they'll play r&l next year or i'd say a high chance.

if they're playing Hyde Park then that just about rules them out of Reading/Leeds. Melvin tries exceedingly hard to some sort of exclusivity for the R/L headliners.

Melvin does love his exclusives but hopefully he's learned that you should book the best acts available not the ones who'll agree not to play elsewhere.

If they could get for instance The Killers and Foos as exclusives I don't think it would make much difference to sales if Blur were playing there own gig as well.

what he's most interested in is in ensuring that the tickets sell.

If the headliners he books are playing elsewhere nearby then he's starting off trying to do that from a worse position than if they're not playing elsewhere nearby.
