if bloc party are potentially in the running to headline then why are queens of the stone age not? their next album is very likely to be sublime, the have subbed twice in 3 years and were excellent both times, so are very reliable. last year at glastonbury they looked epic and that was just on tv. most people respect them and they are a good match for R/L. the only problem i can see is that if foo fighters headliners then that would be 2 days with heavier headliners, but one day could be leaning towards more classic rock and the other punk and metal. would rather them headline than bloc party or the killers.

I think the main reason they wouldn't this year would be the reason you said about the heavier bands. I can see this next album pushing them up to headliners, especially if it's as well received as songs for the dead. Though this year if they were to play anywhere, I could see them as a soni headliner. If they don't play here this summer my moneys on them headlining R+L in 2013 :)

Tbf the fact they're willing to play Glasto when iirc they'd already finished touring the UK means they won't be too expensive, considering Glastonbury's low pay rates. Though by then they could be huge and cost a fortune. Other than that I'm guessing he's saying they'll be cheap because they won't be as big as other headliners.
