I'm not sure you can say that R&L is 'bigger', Download's capacity is much more (125,000 compared to 85,000 at Reading) and they do have some massive bands headlining (at the expense of the overall bill IMO). Sure bands tend to play lower down at R&L but I guess that's dowm to demographics, by that theory T is bigger than R&L. Also apparently Biffy are only subbing at the request of Metallica, I doubt they'd sub a smaller headliner, so with a popular album behind them I could see them being pushed up to a headliner spot (which FR like to do) for 2013.

Not the same stage though.

I'd say no chance. Reading has always been the bigger festival, if Biffy aren't headlining Download then I don't see why they would headline Reading next year (excluding if they released a new album which was even more massive than the last one).

I reason i disagree with you is that Biffy are subbing, at request of the biggest metal band ever. Download is not where their main crowd is, R&L is, and Soni had a younger viewing generally than Download IMO.

They are subbing in between the finishing of one album tour and another due to come out. If they headline R&L, it is again directly their crowd as can be and its when the new album is completely out, been heard by many and got its popularity vote whichever way it'll go. I don't know for certain, bit U have a feeling, in the eye's of the R&L crowd it'll already be awesome, and just like Blink in 2010, they're performance was going to be great before it took place.

I don't think you can judge it on excluding if they release a new album, cause they will have by then.
