I'm almost sure Soundgarden will be at Reading now. I don't think Sonisphere have them (pure guess, pure pure guess) and Download do NOT have exclusivity - they're somewhere else too, but where? Reading, the best fit for them. Hell, it's quite possible they'll headline. Remember, MCR subbed (and lowered) a LOT of fests last year, even in England, but still pulled our top spot. In focus group interviews, Benn claimed he'd love for SG to headline - don't give up hope yet!

EDIT; Soundgarden are REALLY unlikely for Soni... what with those Pearl Jam dates whack in the middle of it...

I agree about The Black Keys, 3 sold out nights at Ally Pally and some academy dates too would give them 3rd defo. The next stage would be an arena sell out tour which would then see them be able to hit 2nd, that's with a fair few amount of arena's though. I'm not suggesting they do this, just saying how it'd be. Their new album is great too.

There's no real 'evidence' that anyone is playing, it's all circumstantial. Based on the strength of that evidence or precedents set in previous years you can use that circumstantial evidence to predict whether it's likely or unlikely that someone will play (and in some cases completely rule someone out), but that's about it. But hey, that's what we're here to do.

Happy Mondays are apparently reforming and playing festivals in the Summer, I guess they're going to try and hawk it and play everything they can so will offer themselves to V and R&L. Not sure which would be a better fit (or would want them enough to outbid the other).

A lot points towards R&L having them as either Foo's sub band which they could easily do, or NME headline stage. Just can't see them headline at R&L. Benn has said he'd love to book them and mentioned about them headlining but he probably knows in reality that wouldn't for the crowd be the smartest move. AC I can't see being that that bothered if R&L got one of his sub headers or even his 3rd's (including TD), as long as his competition in Soni didn't. Download get many bands that Soni would but R&L don't. R&L moreso have to fight with V not to get certain bands.

The theory is true, although in reality to festivals that are more mainstream than R&L, not less. If you apply it to Download it works the other way around, bands that play Download are far more likely to be lower down the bill at R&L than higher to having less of a captive audience or demand than at Download.
