VCK
To be fair Fall Out Boy have always put on a good performance whenever they've played Leeds. Not a huge fan but decent live.

rexclark
Fall Out Boy will nevert headline R&L. If My Chemical Romance divided opinion the FAB would be a disaster. Not a risk FR would be willing to take.

beau1
Not a bad prediction tbh. I do reckon they'll probably have a couple of bands newer to the festival then the ones you've said. Bands like Lostprophets and Noah and The Whale have played it quite a bit and I don't think they'll want to book them once again if they don't have to. I reckon they'll add a bit of variation like Madness and The National last year. You can get punters who go year in year out like myself you really don't want to see a space used by Lostprophets again. I actually do reckon there is a chance that The Cure will headline. There's many reasons why I don't think they should. Are they big enough? Would it go down well with the crowd? Would they have 2 headline sets with 2 hours? thetime
They are a lot bigger than both Pixies and The Smashing Pumkins who have both headlined recently, the question of them being big enough is quite frankly a silly one. The only problem question I can is if they would go down with the crowd, which I don't see why not but it depends on the sort of stuff they play. Yellow_Fellow
Dukey, by that logic Arcade Fire weren't suitable for their 2010 headline slot.
beau1
theres 2 points not going for the cure. 1. not the market band for r and l. 2. also all there festival dates are early summer rather than late. will be seeing them at roskilde, so dont care. beau1
I can't see them fitting in to the R&L 'demographic', if they were up against someone like Chase and Status the tent would be rammed.

thetime
That's true, but you saw the crowd AF drew, i watched the first half an hour of their set and have never been able to get close to the front with ease, if Arcade Fire had subbed the crowd would have been much larger, so if The Cure subbed to someone like Foo's for example they would probably get a bigger crowd than headlining. thetime
The Cure are a headlining band, no question about it, they would not sub. If they don't feel they could draw the right crowd, they just won't play, there's plenty of other places where they'd be appreciated.
lharris92
thrash hits have posted a bit of a teaser, http://www.thrashhits.com/2012/01/sunday-slaylist-speculating-sonisphere-2012/ Well, this week Sonisphere finally broke their silence and announced some of the bands that will be playing their Spanish and Finnish festivals this year. As yet there’s still no names for Knebworth, and as Metal Hammer noted, some of the names that are playing in Madrid and Helsinki are playing Download in the UK, and therefore seem highly unlikely to make the UK edition of Sonisphere. But it got us thinking – what bands could be playing at Knebworth this year? Now if you’ve been following us on Twitter, you’ll know that we’ve said that we know at least two bands that will be playing the UK leg of Sonisphere 2012. And yes, both of them are in this week’s Slaylist. We’ve also added tracks from every other band we’ve heard rumoured to be playing Knebworth (although some of them we know are going to be playing Reading, Leeds or Download instead…), so perhaps we’ve got even more of the line-up right than we know. Only time will tell…. There’s at least one rumoured band that we’ve deliberately left off our Slaylist (not that they’re on Spotify, anyway). This band is one of the names that some people are throwing around as a potential headliner….but we happen to know that they are definitely not playing at Knebworth. Can anyone work out who it is we’re talking about?

thetime
Pixies and SP had a reformation factor. The Cure don't (in fact, it looks as though Porl has gone again).

lucastang
Problem is if GnR were booked to headline (a huge risk by Benn), where their demographic is long before RnL, I don't see how The Cure have any less chance headlining then they did. Surely it would be less riskier booking The Cure to headline? GnR somehow managed to draw a crowd, don't see any less at The Cure, let alone to get me started on AF.
