Bestival don't do day tickets and there is the added cost/hassle of getting to the IOW.

An outdoor Cure show, with day tickets available on the mainland would sell a lot quicker due to the rareness of it, against the Foo's or Kasabian who constantly play festivals/tours in the UK.

I agree that day tickets for Reading would sell quicker than weekend tickets for Bestival around the Cure - obviously - but The Cure's fanbase is not as big nowadays as some would believe.

Their UK shows sell out very quickly but they're always small shows, and they only do about one show a year. While the Foos play here constantly they're massive shows and they always sell out fast.

Kasabian's festie performances have actually been pretty limited over the last five years or so, I'm guessing because they won't accept anything less than headliner. While they've got much lower popularity than the Foos they're probably still a much bigger draw than the Cure overall, tho it might well be the case that day tickets for The Cure at R/L will sell faster.

I have to say that a website the other month or so reported or someone reported on it that they'd heard The Cure were headlining his year. As as much as it was obvs a take with pinch of salt, it wasn't your obvious troll thing.

That said, The Cure would delight me :) and would play 2 hrs i think. I wouldn't have thought MB would book two 2hr bands but if he's gone for that fair play.

But do The Cure seem like a band to book a hotel?

Not sure on the hotel story, but wouldn't be the 1st time a hotel has been block booked for the Reading weekend.. I know FR and the BBC have done this in the past. Plus other companies/agencys have done similar in the past but maybe not a whole hotel

What hotel was it?

the hotel that's been block booked hasn't been block booked for at least five years if ever.

eat my words time

We've just had some info that suggests that The Cure might well be the 3rd R/L headliner. At this moment it's nothing solid or worth putting any more weight than that on to, but there could be something to it.

Its not there own Gig though is it... Foo Fighters played for 3hours when at MK bowl but will only play 2 at Leeds!

I think The Cure will play a greatest hits set, because if they play album tracks that nobody has really listen to it could become quite tedius! Madness last year springs to mind... everybody in the crowd was waiting for Baggy Trousers, Our House and Night Boat to Cairo.

After Muse finished, origins of symmetry it turned into a greatest hits montarge and was incredidble...hit after hit, one of the most brilliant sets ive ever whitnessed! If The Cure did simlar they would go down much better ibelive!
