I sound mean to have a go man but you told me I spoke utter nonsense yesterday and then you put Placebo in as a chance to sub the main stage. 3rd is as high as they will probably ever play again.

Everyone saying about Placebo, just checked and they are touring Germany on the Leeds Weekend so I cant see that one happening!

really hope the cure don't headline, if kasabian and foo are 100% then the third headliner is probably going to be a classic, like pulp last year

Pixies, New Order, Smashing Pumpkins, Placebo... any of those fit pretty well. Even a band like Bloc Party wouldn't look too out of place, or Florence perhaps? She's subbing to them at Optimus Alive in Portugal.

Everyone's saying the Cure don't fit the "demographic of the target audience", well what exactly is that? In the last ten years we've had: PULP, Arcade Fire, Guns n Roses, Radiohead, Metallica, Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam, Pixies thrown in with the usual RHCP, Killers, Arctic Monkeys, KOL, Strokes etc... I don't see why the Cure would be so out of place headlining?

Sure I'm not expecting if they play, that they'll get the biggest crowd of the weekend, or even as great reception as they got at Bestival. But to say they totally don't fit doesn't make any sense at all.

i just dont see them as a headlining band. hmm thats my opinion of course. but there must be other bands knocking about which would be far more fitting to this years line up.

You're just looking for an argument now, what you said yesterday was totally stupid and made no logical sense what so ever... I was just listing a few high profile bands that may or may not play on the day that the Cure headline, if they do.

I'm not am I thou? I'm saying a band that you suggested to sub to the cure is nonsense and stupid if you want to use that term. Exactly what you said to me on my view. If your going to call someone if you disagree then accept it back if someone doesn't disagree with you.

You wasn't looking for a few high profile's to possibly play on the sub, you were looking for subs.

I only know one song from The Cure and i never liked it and didnt listen to them further.

The Cure Kasabian Foo Fighters... no better than Muse, MCR and Pulp/Strokes. IMO.

It's inspired but just really odd. To say that the reason they're having a deposit scheme is because their target audience is struggling financially and then to have The Cure as a headliner is weird.

Either everyone claiming the festival will instantly sell out is wrong or Melvin Benn is looking at this completely arseways.

i can give my opinion after listening to alot of songs.... Meh. they will have a very small crowd especially if they put someone half decent as 2nd stage headliner.

I must admit I am rather under-whelmed by 'The cure' as well but thats only because I am not really into their music, as long as they put someone decent on the NME stage whilst 'The Cure' are on I dont mind-the 'Libertines' had been mentioned before, would be happy with that!

Still if we are playing who else we would like to see, personally top of my list is Greenday just because I have never seen them live! I would love Mumford and sons or Biffy Clyro to.

Have to say, if it is the Cure, then could be very tempted with a day ticket - was really unimpressed with Foos and Kasabian. I can imagine a sort of NIN moment happening again with the Cure. Hope it's true!
