A lot of people surprisingly were open to Nickelback being a Download header this year.

Linkin Park I'd love but based on when they last did it, something feels unlikely and that they prefer different fests. They said at Download last year that they love and are honoured to be ask to go back and play.

Eminem as I said I'd love but it would bring a load of twats more than usual which I understand.

Neil based on the evidence you have at the moment who would you say is more likely The Killers or The Cure?

Since they're both rumoured you must have had some evidence of both of them playing.

different types of perhaps-evidence received at different times. They can't really be compared side by side in that way.

But of the two I'd go with The Cure, but mostly because that'sa more recent.

I can't believe people are saying they only know 1 Cure song and then trying to refer it to The Cure's poor size! The Cure have been one of the biggest alternative bands at stages in their career, one of the most critically acclaimed and have probably amassed around 20 or more top 40 hits. We're not on about a band such as Television here! A band such as Kasabian have probably got little chance of reaching that figure. If you say you've only heard 1 song that only tells me one thing. You have an extremely poor knowledge of music. I have a habit of generalising the Leeds and Reading crowd but even I don't believe their musical knowledge stretches to 1 Cure song. When I actually type The Cure into facebook I get quite a lot of people who are fans of them like me and tbh most of them are the Reading/Leeds type. Though their crowd wouldn't be as big as someone such as Foo Fighters, it wouldn't be as small as some people are making it.

Lovecats, Inbetween Days, Boys don't cry, Friday I'm in love, Pictures of you, Lullaby, Just like Heaven, A forest, Close to Me. I don't even know which 1 song you people are on about  . I listen to Absolute at work and they play them a fair bit. I can't believe anyone who is a fan of music has come across just the 1 track.

Reading and Leeds is an Alternative/Indie/Rock festival though. They can't just go for 3 acts such as The Killers, Foo Fighters and Kasabian. One of their USP is the alternative element. Them 3 bands could headline V easily. They are in competition now with V but they need something which sets them apart from it. 3 headliners like those 3 wouldn't. They'd go directly in competition, fighting a battle that they probably wouldn't win and then would lose the existing audience they have who like the alternative aspect of the festival. They need to mix it up a bit. The Cure could actually bring a new audience to the festival as well. If they are impressed then maybe they'll be tempted to come back in following years.

And the person who said Kasabian should have a 2 hour slot instead of The Cure  . The mind boggles at times

I'm 18 years old and I'm leaving school this year that means I am perfectly in the R+L current demographic target audience. I couldn't recognise a single The Cure song if I heard it. Today I was talking about them in school with a few friends who I'm going to Leeds with and neither could they, the majority of the audience at R+L won't know many songs by them.

That said I know exactly who they are and I know that they deserve their place as headliners at festivals but I'm not sure if they'll be a bigger draw as some people are thinking.
