Someone on the official boards claims to know that they are, while I've had some info which indicates that they might be.

As far as I'm concerned from what I know, currently they might be or might not be, tho each thing tends to make the likelihood stronger.

While both are similarl;y marked as 'strong rumours' in the efests line-ups, I've got far more solid info which suggests that Kasabian are a headliner than I have for the cure.

The Cure, Kasabian and Foo Fighters looks a bit more likely now then it seems, i'd hope Latitude had The Cure instead of R&L but you can't pick and choose the line ups ourselves, although that would be interesting.

Just hope someone like Avenged Sevenfold, Enter Shikari or Lostprophets headline the NME to clash with The Cure, that'll suit me down to the ground.

Have people actually given The Cure a good listen if they didn't know who they were?

If I didn't know a band of a similar status of them and it looked like they were going to be headlining a festival I was going to I'd be making sure I gave them a very good listen to see whether I actually thought they were any good or not. Especially considering the lack of other bands who are been thrown up as rumours and considering people don't know who the alternative will be on the NME etc. And I mean a good listen. Ie 4/5 listens of one of their albums, not 'I'll check out 2/3 tracks on youtube once and base my whole opinion on the band on them'. For a start you won't even know if they are a band who grow on you on continuous listens.

I'm amazed that some people are given the opportunity to see a band with the critical standing of that of The Cure's and their immediate thought is 'give me 'this band' or 'this band'' who I've seen plenty of times and can do again in the future. Do people have no desire to find and listen to new music?

I'm wondering that too, guranteed that if people actually listened to them then a lot of those moaning would probably enjoy 'The Head on the Door', 'Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss me' and especially 'Wish' as its Rock and guitar orientated.

A lot of people are, I imagine basing their opinions off pop songs like Boys Don't Cry, which in itself is a tiny part of what The Cure do. They are pretty much impossible to place into a genre, another thing that quite a lot people don't realise if they just hear the pop songs.
