2012 Lineup

I've seen both Foos and Green Day and I can say that Foos are the superior live band.

Green Day know how to work the crowd but they rely on gimmicks too much. Spraying the crowd with water guns, pulling people out of the crowd to play guitar and shouting "I said a-heeeeeeyyyyy, ooooooohhhhh!" every five seconds. Fun but at times they're more like a circus act than a band.

Foo Fighters, on the other hand, always play a solid set of music and simply use the songs to get people going.

It was referred to in 08 that the lineup didn't suffer and it pulled well. I was pointing out in case it did matter that there was only one 2 hr band and that for less time for a headline band, less money possibly etc.

I just thought that it might've been an idea with it as surely The Killers, RATM and Metallica won't cost as much as Green Day, Kasabian and Foo Fighters? Green Day I imagine will demand a fee and a half to accept to play it with a shorter set.

Green Day may do but how do you know Killers, Metallica & Rage weren't also demanding huge fees? Killers were huge at the time, Metallica where back with a new album so they may have got into bidding with Download for them and Rage where hot property and went out of there way to R&L since they toured Europe earlier in the summer. Where I can see Foos having a nominal fee since they love the fest and Kasabian whilst big are not massive. It could just as easily be possible that those headliners would cost a lot less or a lot more than 2008s but without actually knowing how much they were paid it's impossible to guess.
