I have to say people, that VF have updated their strong rumors section. Now featuring Bloc Party, Kaiser Chiefs, Refused and Two Door Cinema Club. Indeed I realise that Efests has had this info up a few days now. They have had over there Foo's, Green Day and All Time Low up too for a fair bit. Now again, not always reliable but they did know about Guns and Roses well in advance before, they are certainly not the weakest link, yes they have a lot of bands in their rumored section but as it's only rumor, they are not saying anything different. This is also the people that Melvin Benn has done interviews about the fest and lineup previously for.

Oh had they, I went to bed at quarter past 10 so after that I'm unaware. Well the guy put it up on here at 12:03am, I guess you can say it was either just dead on today it was said or just before. Judging by their site though they didn't actually print info on it till 3:22 this afternoon.

nope, there was a post made on here (in this thread I think) before 7.30 last night.

Perhaps Bestival got on their case and they took it down.

I for one would love to see Pendulum sub Green Day but they are taking a break so very much doubt it.

As to more rap/hip hop acts - Jay Z, Eminem, Rizzle Kicks and Dizzee are more than welcome. Kanye West is huge but not a preference of mine, then you go to The Game, Chamillionaire, Nelly but theyd all get bottled. their ain't much out there until you go into the Pop/RnB/Hip Hop industry e.g. Bruno Mars etc...

I think thats a key thing. For instance if the Killers headline this year now, people will say that VF were onto it way before Efests. But thats not true. VF just list absolutely anyone that might play theyre bound to get some right. Efests put up rumours with credible sources to them. When they took the Killers off its not because they wont play its because they havent got a reason to suggest its them over your average rumour. But nor do VF.

Efests has the best ratio of rumours to correct billings on the web as far as I can tell. Even if VF predict more bands than Efests, as a proportion of their rumours Efests always win.

This is absolutely right.

For example Vfests have Green Day down most years, when they're right they'll shout about it but when they're wrong they just say "well it was just a rumour we heard".

Efests actually uses the R/SR/TBC system well, it's just that some people don't understand it and can't differentiate betwen that and Neil's personal opinion (ie Neil saying that he didn't think Green Day would ever headline again is not the same as the efests site saying that they won't).

This is true, although for however Little time, Efestivals did indeed put Green Day as a SR, the same status for them as VF. So wether they R/SR them every year or not, efests have at one point done this too.

for less than 10 minutes, due to some confusion over some info we recieved. Once mails had been exchanged to clarify that info, they were dropped to rumour.

I'm still of the beliefe of hearing ages ago that Green Day from somewhere said they would never play it again but that might well be Neil's opinion of he can't it again, but that's not important really. Us getting the right info is

I've often stated my belief that they'd never play again (and occasionally clarified that further, with the addition of 'outside of desperation'). I have a good reason for that belief, but I don't believe I've ever stated the reason.

It's possible that what I heard was wrong, and I've always accepted that possibility. It's also possible that what I heard was right, but that opinions &/or the situation has changed which will affect what I heard.

Despite what I've said is my belief, I'm not so daft as to think that any situation is forever set in stone.

Indeed, I agree with all of the above.

And I know it was for 10 mins or however long, but enough info reached you to still suggest what they are suggesting, that's all I'm saying.

I'm not discrediting efestivals as i love the site etc but i also think VF are a decent source for info.

history proves that to be complete bollocks.

There's a good reason why, having been far in front of efestivals (they started a year earlier) efestivals has gone past them by a huge amount. Nowadays their traffic is of the level of the tiny fest sites that few have heard of - again, there's a reason why.

I think it's completely useless using them as a source of info. I just had a look at it and their rumours are just a collection of bands who possibly could play, and even include the XX who are a Bestival exclusive. Anyone can start a rumour and make a guess, which is all they seem to have done. Efestivals actually give you an indication of who's likely to be playing the festival
