Oh please no. I consider myself a fan, but I'd rather see a new act headline or someone who hasn't done it in the past 15 years. And a Drones anniversary... that's probably my least favourite album. 😂
Just give them the surprise act slot, so they can use it to announce their BHAR 20th anniversary shows for 2026. 😋
In addition to tech adjustments to stop people gaming the system with multiple devices I'd favour:-
1 . All prospective individual purchasers and groups to be declared with a nominated lead booker prior to the sale.
2. Membership of multiple groups by registrants rendered as impossible as can be .
3. Only the lead booker able to purchase tickets for the group.
4. All prospective single purchasers and groups to be issued with a unique log on code to enable them to join the queue
5. Disqualify successful ticket holders from the next festival.
Point 5 may be controversial but 1 - 4 would greatly reduce gaming the system.
I agree, I think as we get less and less older acts around or doing their own thing bands like Muse become the legacy/nostalgia bookings and a band for the younger folk to tick of the list.
Seems to be getting some stick but I think there’s something in this. Registration serves as a log in and preregistration of your group so you can only get those you’ve signed up. There’s a similar system in place for buying tickets with my football team and it works ok.
I suppose 2 issues, people will game it with multiple registrations, but there are ways around this and it doesn’t need to be any more invasive to personal privacy, we already submit photos of ourselves and this could be used as part of the approval process.
and I guess it makes it a ballot in all but name, but I’ve always felt they could give the “super keeners” a better chance by announcing details quietly, away from social media and do the sales at short notice. But there is obvs issues with this also.
