MCR may well have not pulled in a massive crowd... But by god they put on one hell of a show, i was sceptical when they were announced as one of the headliners and i'm a massive fan, but they truly warranted that shot at headlining and proved a lot of people wrong.

I thought MCR put on a great headlining show, just because you happen to not like a band doesn't mean that you can run around calling their performance a disaster. From a sales point of view maybe not the most popular choice, but performance wise they were spot on

I said they put on a good show. A very good show. They proved they are more than capable of putting on a fantastic show.

But in terms of a headline act it was a disaster, they didn't sell tickets, or pull in a crowd, so as good as they were if no one was there to see it... what's the point.

Arcade Fire had a smallish crowd (bigger than MCR's though) but the hype they generated and mass growth after proved them to be a success. Plus they had a hit album and a sell out arena tour. MCR realised an album that didn't do well, a tour that didn't sell and were still booked and headliners... and they failed. regardless of performance.

Thinking outside the box is a booking like Arcade Fire. Cult band, number one album, sell out arena tour... never headlined before.

MCR were booked about a year before the festival. When they made their big comeback, they failed to sell out a tour, their album got to number 14 and they quite clearly were on the downturn in their career. They were a band who were popular in the 'emo' fad, and then started to die away after (a la Lostprophets). They should never have headlined. There was no reason for them to, other than the fact of exclusivity.

I seriously doubt your ability of cognitive though if you're going to compare the history and success and draw of The Cure and My Chemical Romance.

Was he? In England?

It was a massive risk booking him, a risk that paid off. But baring in mind he was booked at Reading to playing something like 5th down but dropped out. He was never regarded as a headliner act before Glasto gave him the chance.
