no one does both its either/or the only exceptions have been people who appear as unbilled secret sets at L/R or at the strongbow tent at V. Whilst they may share same bands from year to year (not so much now V has become very pop party) they never have the same bands on the same year it's like an unwritten rule....

So when V lineup is announced on Sunday it will be safe to say none will appear at L/R this year

I cant remember who said it but they said although the Foo's were a huge band, they wouldn't be a huge sum of money to book due to Dave Grohls love for the festival. Allowing Melvin to book a bigger band than we are used to seeing. Allowing the likes of hopefully Green Day/ Linkin Park/ SOAD etc. Just a guess :)

Yeah....what he said.

My problem is that I'm always disappointed by the lack of heavy rock/metal. And before anyone starts with that "go to Download/Sonisphere" crap, the reason I go to R&L is because as much as I love my metal, I love pretty much every type of music out there, and I actually go to a festival wanting a bit of variety. If I wanted to watch the same handful bands every single year, then yeah...I'd go to one of those other festivals, but I don't. I want variety, and R&L always used to be the best place to find it. I just think that R&L are targeted far too much toward the trendy young crowd these days. There used to be a little of everything for everyone, but not so much these days.

I always said that the right formula for headliners at R&L was one truly legendary headliner, one current big thing headliner and one huge comeback headliner. In that respect, I think 2008 got it pretty spot on. There weren't a huge amount of bands that I was particularly into that year, but at least we had some variety.
