2012 Lineup

Guest Hart Attack

My prediction -

Main Stage

First Headliner: Foos/RHCP (RHCP new album/Foos not playing R+L this year)

Sub: Biffy Clyro

Second Headliner: Soundgarden (These two could easily be flipped, depends how they're feeling)

Sub: Fall Out Boy

Third Headliner: Arctic Monkeys (no particular reason, didn't play R+L this year)

Sub: Kasabian

NME Stage

Headliner: Pendulum

Sub: Moby

Headliner: Mumford and Sons

Sub: Paulo Nutini

Headliner: Plan B

Sub: The Temper Trap

Yes it gets ridiculous at the end but to be honest they are just 'wouldn't it be nice if...' bands. You can basically ignore NME if you're after serious rumours. Thoughts?

Oh, and of course Foos AND RHCP could be present although I would imagine they would take different headline slots on different days.

Weren't it a safer bet to have them as sub though as if they wrre headliners and something happened with pete and he couldn't play, to have your header on main pull out'd be pretty bad. I reckon with a new record, people would love it, pretty much before it came out lol

Thats actually a good line up, but won't please the masses so reading + leeds won't have the balls to do it. Good to see a lot of different acts in there not just the same old repeats i.e. Chems, soundgarden, wu tang, hives et. al.

But yeah its gonna be the foos and bloc party, again.

i reckon after announceing a november tour, death cab for cutie are likely to play 4th on one of the days too. and agree with others, hadn't thought it but i guess jane's addiction could well return after pulling out, would rather nme header again though rather than taking a decent 3rd place

Both, they did it a few months before their R&L shows and given that before 2010 their last 2 times they played UK festivals resulted in pissing off the crowd by turning up late and led to the worst Sunday night riots in both fests history shows that it may be better to cancel before hand rather than wait to when they are due on stage.

Kasabian stated on Zane Lowe that they were looking at doing their own stadium shows next summer, could still see them doing one festival and that being Reading and Leeds.

Foo Fighters pretty much nailed on.

Really depends if they decide to take a risk and put a new band into headlining status, Biffy Clyro, Bloc Party. I hope they do.

As much as I'd love Soundgarden to headline, they just couldn't do it at the present R&L. The best hope for them to do the festival would be in headlining the R1 stage - as such they'd be much more likely to do Download or Sonisphere. More nad more I'm coming round to the idea of Biffy Clyro headlining. They'd still be seen as a new headliner but would almost certainly be a much safer bet than MCR this year, or Arcade Fire last year.
