Well they've got a strong relationship with the festival, apparently they've said they'd like to finish their world tour at Reading (though not sure if there are any sources for this), it'll be the 20th anniversary since the famous Nirvana gig, and Melvin Benn has siad one headliner has already been booked, and considering the Foo's have been in the country quite a bit this summer it's quite likely that they'll have been booked this far in advance.

At least that's the reason's I've gathered to be true

I dunno, I've always got the impression that theyd be a fantastic headliner for the festival, and if it was their only UK shows I have no doubt that it would sell out at least the day tickets. Seems like enough of a controversial yet popular booking that FR seem to like

Well, it'll be a bit of a comeback (admittedly not after that long a hiatus, but still), should have a new album out spring 2012, so that could help. I just can't see them subbing yet again. If R+L get them as an exclusive (a proper exclusive like all the headliners were last year, not like MCR and the Strokes this year) I reckon they'd be a pretty big draw. Plus in my proposed lineup A7X are headlining the tent which helps the strength of the day...

Does anyone think the Festival Republic stage will expand sooner rather than later? I couldnt get anywhere near to get into to see Foster The People, I think it was pretty rammed for The Horrors too, fortunately I got a good spot at the front. I didn't see Ed Sheeran but I assume he would have got a huge crowd

I'll be happy with Blur next year. I'd say Justice are a given and Suede would be a great surprise for me. The rest I'm not fussed with.

I thought at the time I wrote this that it was a bit more original than a lot of the lineups people have been posting, but since then quite a few of the names on mine have been suggested.

I'm very intrigued by the prospect of Blur - is it actually likely? Because that would be the best booking at the festival for years I feel. Anyway, here goes my lineup:

I just thought the co-headlining thing worked pretty well this year, and seeing as SOAD only subbed last time they played Reading and aren't really any bigger than they were then, co-headlining would be the best shot at getting them at the festival (which we know MB wants, he tried to get them this year didn't he?). Same deal with Slipknot really not big enough in terms of Reading to headline alone but less likely to settle for a lower slot since Sonisphere.

Fair enough about Killswitch Engage, they'll have had another two albums out since they were there in 2006 so I guess they would be 6th or 7th on the bill. Maybe just take them out of that lineup, they probably wouldn't have 10 bands on the main stage on that day. Stick them in the Lock Up on the Saturday or something.

I detest Mumford And Sons, but I can't deny their ludicrous popularity, 3rd from top main is their minimum I am very sad to say.

I'd say Justice are too big to sub the tent.

Are BBC big enough for third? I'd swap them and Gallagher.

Really can't see Morrissey playing, let alone headlining NME.

I'd just like to say that Morrissey in the tent would be f**king incredible.

Also not too unrealistic. Plays similar sized venues to the Manics who headlined NME in 2008, similar level of success as well I suppose, both hugely acclaimed British acts who have a very dedicated, bordeline obsessive following. But it would be a good booking.
