2012 Lineup

Guest Hart Attack

I'd just like to say that Morrissey in the tent would be f**king incredible.

Also not too unrealistic. Plays similar sized venues to the Manics who headlined NME in 2008, similar level of success as well I suppose, both hugely acclaimed British acts who have a very dedicated, bordeline obsessive following. :D But it would be a good booking.

I just thought the co-headlining thing worked pretty well this year, and seeing as SOAD only subbed last time they played Reading and aren't really any bigger than they were then, co-headlining would be the best shot at getting them at the festival (which we know MB wants, he tried to get them this year didn't he?). Same deal with Slipknot really not big enough in terms of Reading to headline alone but less likely to settle for a lower slot since Sonisphere.

Fair enough about Killswitch Engage, they'll have had another two albums out since they were there in 2006 so I guess they would be 6th or 7th on the bill. Maybe just take them out of that lineup, they probably wouldn't have 10 bands on the main stage on that day. Stick them in the Lock Up on the Saturday or something.

however both have headlined download, and slipknot have headlined soni too - not saying this changes anything though.

MB apparently tried to get SOAD to headline this year but failed because they kept their european tour to June.

besides the cost of them both together - especially when SOAD are still on the back of a reunion, and slipknot uncertain of what they are to do (yes they probably will keep going) it could cause a hefty bill - especially with the foos being rumoured..

I've been kind of hoping ever since this years lineup was released that FR had been keeping some extra capital for next year. It's unlikely I know but their mindset may have been "No Glasto, lets smash it next year and win some new custom".

That being said I still think that Foo's are pretty much nailed on (very happy about that) - a rumour was also going around that he'd tried to book Green Day last year and failed, not sure if they'll ever play again but still hoping they put in an appearance.

Yeah I remember listening to it the day it came out. Everyone was ripping it to shreds because of his claims about the lineup.

In hindsight most of the criticism revolved around MCR and they did a brilliant job as headliner, but referring to my previous comment I don't think they will have been payed as much as GnR, Blink and definately not as much as The Libs (who got a shit tonne).

You're right though thinking about it now the rumour did come off the back of that interview and nothing more, could have been that he'd been on the phone to them five minutes before and they had told him "f*ck off I'm never playing your festival again!" :D .

Didn't Neil say once that he'd heard they would never play RnL again but he wouldn't say why?

I think he suggested that they wouldn't as they're well outside FR's target demographic nowadays, but I don't know if that was his take on it or whether it was based on something that he had heard. Also there's the usual stuff about them preferring to play their own massive shows due to being able to play longer, having a more dedicated crowd, earning more, etc.
