The Good, The Bad & The Queen are doing a one off show soon. I could see them getting back together properly and start planning a new album after the show and with them not playing the fest before I could see R&L being their 1st choice for summer fests and FR would use it as a chance to talk with Damon Albarn about a possible future Blur booking.

I'm pretty sure they would headline if they played - I mean they subbed in 2003, and that was before Mezmerize/Hypnotize, which I believe were some of their more successful albums (had some of their bigger songs on there - BYOB, Lonely Day, Cigaro, Hypnotize, Question, Lost In Hollywood etc). And then you've got the reunion factor - I think the only show they've done here since getting back together was Download, so there should still be plenty of demand for them.

Just did a google search on System and found an interview from a few days ago...

http://www.musicradar.com/rhythm/john-dolmayan-talks-the-future-of-system-of-a-down-503837

"He said: "We're gonna take it day by day. We still have a few more shows to do in South America — we're playing in Buenos Aires and we're playing Santiago, so we're looking forward to that. And then we're gonna home."

Dolmayan revealed that the band are set to take a break over the festive period and he expects frontman Serj Tankian to take time out to work on a new solo record next year.

"So you might see System touring next summer, you might not," Dolmayan added. "But for the people who are waiting for an album — I know there's a lot of people waiting for an album; I'm waiting for an album just like they are. It's gonna happen when it's right and when we can make something that tops what we've done in the past.

"Because we don't really wanna rest on our laurels — where what you've done in the past is what you depend on. Well, I don't wanna do that, and I know the rest of the guys don't wanna do that. Instead of resting on our laurels, we wanna throw them away and create something new and specific for this generation that they can say that's their System of a Down.""

IMO it looks like no tour plans are in place but they are open to offers if a fest came along.

I think if someone gets them it'll be both of them either doing SOAD head and Slipknot sub or Co-head but I can't see it being Reading for some reason. They have too many options already said who would fit their slots better and Jay-Z & Kanye would be the only option outside of Bloc Party, Kasabian and Foo's I could see.

System have just announced that they're doing Soundwave in Australia in February and March next year, don't know if this will have any bearing on their summer festival plans though. Looks like Slipknot will also be there

Slipknot could be tempted i think but only if they are offered Headline/Co-Headline...

They could easily headline, and would be an excellent choice for a heavy day, as long as the supporting bands are up to standard.

Nickelback are my outsiders if Download dont get them.

The only UK fest they could both headline at is R&L. Download & Soni have had one of them headline this year and they wouldn't put a headliner from the previous year on again let alone downgrade one them to a sub and TITP, V, Bestival etc wouldn't go for them.

There may be bigger bands but not bigger heavy bands which R&L likes to get. Foos could do it but they have a much wider audience than that and when they've headlined before it was with another heavy band.

I reeeeeeally hope the powers that be are looking at this forum, having Kanye/Jay-z at RnL would be incredible and it seems loads of people would love to see it,

However, they're already doing the 'Watch the Throne' tour in the US and they may want to bring it to the UK (potentially getting them more money than a festival appearance?) plus even if they diddd play a festival, they may head more towards playing TITP/Oxegen over RnL :(
