Kasabian @ Pyramid stage in 2009 i couldn't see the stage because of flags, moved and still couldn't see, then got into a position where i could see the central screen, then some c**t with a flag came and stood flapping it in front of us so we couldn't see that either.

felt sorry for some of my friends who could truly see nothing as they are quite short, i'm 6'2 and couldn't see anything either, completely ruined the enjoyment of a band i really like.

flag wavers are just sad attention seekers "look at me everybody, I'm waving a flag whoopee f**king doo!"

It's dull, boring and been done to death, get a new attention seeking activity that hopefully doesn't stop other people's enjoyment of the festival that they have spend good money on.

I love the flags, they are one part of the Glastonbury experience and really add to the atmosphere around the Pyramid stage.

Just imagine no flags, it would be like one of those zero atmospheric concerts I have seen at Hyde park.

In my limited experience, if you are close enough to get a good view of the stage then the flags are mostly overhead, if you are farther away from the stage then you tend to watch the screens anyway and it is easy to get a good view of them without flags. I suspect they cause the biggest annoyance to the BBC crew and those watching at home.

2009 was pretty bad for flags but very few last year which is much better!!!

Correct me if I am wrong but could this be due to the fact the flag store was not there last year (2010)?

If this is the case then please please no flag store again this year!!!!

in fact, they are probably the same people.

god I hate the mentality of those people.

"This is MY bit of field and noone else is allowed in"

"I want to carry a flag so I can be seen on TV and I dont care if it means ruining it for those behind me"

What breathtakingly arrogant c**ts they are.

I find it interesting to notice he appears to be completely alone.

It was annoyingly almost always on the left hand side of the pyramid stage for large parts of 2009, yes. I'm sad to report I am pretty sure I saw it on tv coverage of 2008 as well, so clearly he plans to make it a tradition.

To be fair to flags, however, there has been one small wolves pendant on a very thin stick for over a decade that has managed to be at every performance of note on every bit of tv coverage since at least the mid 90s. I don't know if it was the same guy, but it was unobtrusive and part of the culture (at least for some) and it is sad that from that has evolved the huge banner carrying moron of today.

Last year there was a big kick back at flags by lots of festivals and glasto provided it's own, somewhat muted (since they are very much of a belief that people shouldn't be told 'what not to do' there as much as possible) request that flags be kept from the forward stage area to respect the view of others. The numbers were down noticably on 2009 (where it really took the piss, to be honest, I also was at kasabian and that was pointless).
