Dunno if you guys have read but Andy stated that this year is back at 85-90k capcity

BUT they already have the permission to extend the site to 110k capcity no questions asked, its already in place, so anyone I wouldn't worry about tickets selling out.

He also said, they're in talks to extend the capcity further still for future festivals to go past the 110k. He didn't say how much but Im image it would have to be at least 10k or it wouldn't be worth it, looks like they're expecting some big line ups and headliners in the future to shift some serious tickets.

They'd have to be, otherwise the capacity is pretty much OK as it is.

Unless he's aiming for a more mainstream crowd. They'd sell more tickets Im sure, but the nature of the festival would change imo, and not necessarily for the better.

I dont think mainstream would sell. Look at reading this year. They need to keep getting the big rock acts who dont play the uk or fests often like all of last yrs headliners and SOAD this yr

I think he's aiming for a more Reading/Leeds/TITP etc etc crowd. I really can't see it being the fest it has been in coming years. The fact he's booking more and more "shyte" is just a glimpse into the way things are going to be in the coming years. SHAME.

Think he has to move in that direction for a number of reasons, one the acts just aren't there, with Soni and Reading fighting it out for these acts, he has to go for more mainstream acts and the fact if he didn't there would be EVEN MORE repeats than there is now, he's kinda stuck between a rock and a hard place, but look at Rock AM Ring, it could be a lot worse, at least Kings of Leon and Coldplay aren't headlining!

FYI John Probyn actually said at the Fan Forum that he didnt expect they will ever get 110k again.

So I dont thing they are like heads in cuckoo land or anything.

I always used to go to Leeds. One year I think it was 2006, they greatly increased capacity and the whole atmosphere and vibe changed, very much for the worse. I never went back. I'd hate to see the same thing happen at Download.
