Radio 1's Big Weekend is not a proper festival.

Lady Gaga is f**king huge, I would say easily bigger than muse and the strokes. Last.fm figures are completely pointless and so are record sales due to the fact they haven't been around the same length and have released a different number of records. To the public Lady Gaga is probably the biggest recording artist right now. And why not use youtube hits to represent listens, because Lady gaga wins hands down.

I've heard that Lady Gaga has a fantastic live show and given that her music is very popular in the Pop music scene why shouldn't she headline a Pop orientated festival above My Chemical Romance and The Strokes.

My point is MCR are a heavier act that are only there because of there recent foray into disco/syntho/whatever the hell you want to classify some of the tracks in their newest album. The Strokes are a different issue though, mainly because many listeners to Radio 1 will, in all likelihood, struggle to name two of their songs and therefore, probably constitute as "new music" to the pop crowd.

I'm not complaining about the Leeds/ Reading line up because I like all the headliners. However it makes the line up look pretty poor when 2 of the headliners are playing a free event and not even headlining!
