Wasting Light - Foo Fighters

Watched the film and the live set afterwards - how tight are they these days? Adding smear to the fold adds an extra dimension live - gutted the sound kept blipping out mid-song though.

Best moment - "dad, you promised we'd go swimming"

Was amazed at the comparison in shots from the stage in 95 was it? when they played Glastonbury - huge crowded stadium, another, and another, ah there's Glasto - 12 people under brollies in the rain, then back to packed stadium shots! Funny really - but no surpruise they're not hungry to go back there.

1997. I was there. It was wet. We were wet. They were wet. They still put everything they could into it though. Just a shame you could barely hear them over the pounding of the rain drops. If you can count golf-ball sized globules of water as drops that is. Think the official crowd size figure was something like 4,000 people. In the Pyramid Field. That's something like 3% full. Apart from the rain, which did its best to fill up all of the spare space. Did I say it was wet?

Liking what I've heard of the new album thus far, some run-of-the-mill Foos stuff (which I think is a million times better than a lot of bands fwiw) and some stuff that sounds really rather good, not exactly a big change in direction but maybe just a bit more oomph.

There was a pretty decent documentary film on the Foos on BBC2 lastnight (should be on iplayer). Had lots of interviews with all the main people involved with the band, and a lot of good footage. Well worth a watch.

Has to be said, Grohl, who I massively respect and think is a bit of an all round legend, has got a pretty ruthless streak in him. There's certainly some bitterness felt towards him by a couple of the past band members.

twas quality, got in from the pub and it was a nice suprise to find it on.. I was just thinking through it all its scary how quickly time passes though, 17 years since Kirk Conbain died and 9 years now since they headlined Reading the year I moved there..
