Vanderlyle
I don't get this - you say they don't know the intricacies of the deal, then engage in some pure hyperbole of your own!
PabloCoke
You mean out of the three people that have been announced for the Pyramid who are three of the biggest acts in the world?
thesecretingredientiscrime
coldplay boring shit U2 ffs beyonce bleugh I will have an amazing festival as always do, but the line-up isn't shaping up very well for the big stages. the pyramid headliners are pure radio 2. Glastonbury is changing into a middle class bore fest, safe, shite bookings.
PabloCoke
You can't deny they are three of the biggest acts that sell out stadiums around the world, only one of which has played before, five years ago. It's not Oxygen, or T, repeat booking every two years, it's new bookings. I despise Coldplay, but they're a massive great booking for the festival. They would safe if they'd played recently. thesecretingredientiscrime
they are huge bookings, no doubt, and if this would of been accompanied with some real contemporary quality then I'd not moan but the way its shaping up they may have set the tone. middle of the road safe pop booking aots. It will not effect what a f**king great week I will have but the overall booking strategy seems to have changed at Glastonbury and its going very middle of the road and pop. The festival seems to have stopped taking risks on the big two stages.
Porcelina
I think this is U2/Coldplay syndrome that people are taking way out of context. I know the headliners are influential but jeez, last year's Pyramid and most of the Other stage wasn't exactly anything to shout about. There will be a ton of fantastic artists playing all over the place. Besides, the rumours haven't been hugely reliable this year and as yet, we only have Two Door, BB King and Elbow nailed on as actually playing the Pyramid in the day. Stop moaning about the line up before it's even been announced. If it wasn't your love of the festival driving you to check up on the rumours etc, you wouldn't even be aware of the possibilities. Feel free to disprove this come the end of the month if you will. It just feels like people have spat their dummies out today because both Radiohead and Pulp won't be playing. Good riddance I say. Let Glastonbury of the 10s make its own history, rather than clutching at the straws of the 90s. Edited April 4, 2011 by Porcelina

jimmyt
Except that I didn't say any hyperbole. I just pointed out that U2 demand more money than any other band, and that they are therefore likely to cost more than any other band for Glastonbury. I really don't get why you're arguing this point.
James Bolivar
Personally, I'm quite happy to know that the headliners are a bit sh!t, but hugely popular, as it means I won't feel any regret in missing them to enjoy a relatively quiet festival; it is the best time to wander. Pulp I can live without seeing and I'd pay to not have to listen to the amateurish Libertines.

Bort
I noticed that Pulp is either headlining or referred to as a co-headliner at every festival they are playing except I guess T in the Park. Could that be an issue? Edited April 4, 2011 by Bort
thesecretingredientiscrime
I know what you mean, but a hightstreet pop act, coldplay and an 80's pop/rock act are not exactly forging a bright new dawn, they are safe tired bookings that show a lack of imagination and ambition. Mardy
I tell you what, I may be a miserable f**ker, but there's no way you can say the headliners are shite bookings. No, they don't do it for me and I won't be at them but f**kign hell, U2 and Beyonce. can you imagine them playing any other festival? Can you imagine what other festivals would do to even get a f**kign sniff of them playing? and 'lack of imagination or ambition'? They're the biggest acts in the world that don't ever play festivals. How's that a lack of ambition? get to f**k!
