Plenty of bands still to come ?

There are - but at least 15 of these will be the unsigned ones. Another dozen or so from the Local.

I'd guess most of the rest will also be relatively unknown now.......but I'm sure there'll be a few "names" to come.

There's the Thursday for a start!

I'm hoping for maybe a couple more bouncy/fun/melodic acts - along the lines of Loney Dear, I'm From Barcelona, Danny and the Champions of the World, Guillemots, Kissaway Trail etc.

I absolutely love the line-up but it does have a bit of a serious/intense leaning.

Haven't heard the new POBPOH, shoe-y. But I have to say, it'd take a fair bit to persuade me to - there was SO much fawning excitedment at their announcement for Latitude last year. So I investigated. A more twee, fey, weakly-vocalled, jingly-jangly, run-of-the-mill, uninspiring-melodically bunch of sixth formers I have not heard in a good long while.

Apart from that, I too would relish their announcement!

So what do we reckon - will Brakes maintain their 100% EoTR record (I think I'm correct about their appearances so far...)? If yes, I suggest you join me doon-the-front Geof, as it doesn't get much more upbeat and just plain old fun than that!

Can't say I was overly impressed with the debut, although I did like it, but this is just infectiously joyous. It's still incredibly twee (You’re not the only one, you’re just my only one, Even in dreams I could not betray you) but there's a bit more scuzz about them this time around and the melodies are simply lovely.

I got caught dancing a little too enthusiastically to them by the missus last night whilst I was meant to be ironing.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Pierces added to the line up. Saw them supporting Guillemots a few weeks ago and they were really good (and would fit the upbeat/pop/melodic category!) They did an acoustic set when I saw them but said they were more used to playing with a band - so quite versatile. Album out end of May so will be looking to promote that. Definitely worth a look.

I know Alex, Sofia and the team are wading through the band applications etc, but it seems quite a while since there was any musical announcement for EoTR. I guess it's mostoly The Local/Unsigned stuff to come and that's all tied up in the application process, but I'm getting a bit of an announcement gap! For instance, when will they announce that yes, Brakes will once again be gracing Dorset with their post-punk mayhem?!

Anyone on here know/like REVERE? They're a fantastic London 7 piece that I can only describe as chamber-post rock (but with vocals, instrumental-music-phobics!). I think they're great and would be a super late night Big Top act...

Im so busy trying to read the big words in your posts I do not have the time to listen to any new music!

Usually 8-10 unsigned bands to be announced, and the odd big name, followed by if last year is anythign to go by, the pull-outs (12 on all) and replacements. Re last year Has anyone else noticed that RaRaRiot are touring soon to promote the release of their album the Orchard which is weird cos I bought it last aug? before they pulled out.

I'm keeping everything crossed. There seems to me to have been a sliding away from the americana/alt. country base which attracted me to EOTR in the first place in favour of too many twee bands or acts who will struggle to put together much more than 20 minutes of decent material. I look at the way the Truck line-up for example is shaping up, and whilst there is a degree of overlap with EOTR, it's no surprise to me that a number of people I go to gigs with are eschewing EOTR in favour of Truck this year. I'm sure there are reasons for the state of the line-up this year, timing, commitments etc; perhaps too much of the budget has been lumped onto comedy this year: I don't know. Yes I am a grouch but to me, this year's line-up is weak across the board so I'm hoping for:

1. As many withdrawals as last year

2. Some EXCITING late band announcements/replacements

3. More chicken with the jerk

4. A return to form next year

As Dengue Fever pulled out last year due to changing management or whatnots, recording a new album and a half promise of making it this year; I was really expecting to see them on the bill but so far, nufin. I think they're playing at Glastonbury though but it's in June. 2 months to keep them busy in Europe and maybe they can come to the EOTR?
