Out of all the previous special guests have any ended up staying a secret till they came on stage?

I'm sure I remember most of them being leaked on either these forums, or mentioned on Worthy FM of the free site newspaper. The only one I don't think I remember hearing rumoured was Tom York.

The second secret slot last year, Biffy, was known the day before and confirmed on the day. They had been rumoured, and we weren't sure who it was going to be (we were still hoping for The Strokes). Then we kept finding blue flags and posters advertising it was going to be Biffy. That's why nobody could get into The Park, because all the Biffy fans turned out.

After being completely gutted we missed Radiohead, I was very glad I didn't make the effort for the second Special Guests. As my friends did and couldn't get in. (Plus I hate Biffy).

It's not gonna be Stevie Nicks is it, surely the pay and publicity won't be enough?

Having seen further proof that Notjarviscocker is who he says he isn't, I'm growing ever more convinced Friday will be Pulp.

Proof may not be the right word, but he's a special guest at Chilly Gonzales's show at Koko this week, the venue is using Notjarviscocker on their tweets to advertise it, Annie Mac has retweeted one, and Gonzales himself is following him. When you consider this, and the fact that, as I've previously said Emily Eavis and Sheffield Vision are following him (they're making a documentary about Pulp, and the band is involved), it looks more likely than not to me.

i'd put kasabian very much as the front runner in terms of likelihood. they are touring in the UK at the time of the festival, they are in between albums (see klaxons, franz when they played) have played the festival plenty of times before, are a big draw but not so much it'd be completely ridiculous. Also they havent headlined but are pretty much the only UK guitar band that look like they could make the step up to headline, which would fit with emily's comments.

I want it to be pulp but i think its very much clutching at straws and even it were them, i think it'd be a stripped down / acoustic version. not that it'd be bad! Kasabian as the big one and someone else not big as the other one.

IF EE's not exaggerating (or truly believes that The Feeling could headline - Hey, Beyoncnull's doing it so why not any old rubbish pop act?!) then it seems likely to be one of Kasabian, Pulp or The Killers she's refering to. As Kasabian are supposed to be an exclusive at IOW (and Rock Ness for Scotland) they seem the least likely. I have no idea whether HRC has The Killers on an exclusive deal but they've not done that before (in fact normally at least one of their headliners does Glastonbury). Nevertheless, I am willing to give up a great spot for Moz on the gamble that it's Pulp on Friday. A decision made much easier by BAD playing just before that slot.
