Teachers at Glasto?

Just wondered if anybody is or knows any teachers going to Glastonbury this year?

I'm a teacher myself and made my first appearance at the festival last year, only managing to get the friday off through "personal reasons" so the head didn't know I was actually goin!

Anyway, I had the most amazin time and had to leave midway through Sunday to get back so missed more great stuff! I didn't manage to get a ticket this year but I really wanna buy one in the re-sale this weekend. My question is though, do i try and get both the friday and monday off this year by just telling the head where I'm going, or is that too much of a risk if he says no?!

Any thoughts would be great!!

Teacher here! although I do work part time. My first glastonbury was meant to be a 1-off in 2009 to celebrate my 50th birthday but I became hooked :)

First time I went I was pretty p..d off with the school (my previous one), so decided early on to call in sick on the wednesday/thursday (I wasnt working friday)

Last year I managed to get others in the department to cover 2 of my friday lessons, combined with my GCSE and A level classes that had gone meant I could leave 1pm thursday. Luckily my tent arrived at Glastonbury on the wedensday morning, so was ready pitched, which was a good thing as I ended up parked about 2 miles away! pushing the (even tentless still heavy) trolley in that heat was no fun!

This year I "volunteered" to work a full thursday earlier in the year, so am now able to leave tuesday evening. Wednesday is my day off, thursday would only have been 1 year 13 class who have left, and friday I again need cover for 2 lessons - year 8 and 10, which is being done by the school as time in lieu for the thursday I worked.

A result I reckon! I shall leave home early tuesday evening, to arrive 11ish, and hopefully camp with the Camp Traingle-ers!

Now (my new school) know that I go it's not possible to call in sick, but that is always an option for others. Especially in the summer when exams are over.

We've got a couple of teachers in our group coming this year. One has taken a year off for a round the world trip and has specifically booked her return flight so she can come to Glasto. The other friend is coming down on Thursday night not sure how she's managed to get the Friday off. She last came around 2007 and was ringing in sick from the festival just as a soundcheck happened so be careful if planning to do this!
