Parking a 7.5t 'lorry' campervan

(Can't find old registration details right now, thus new account.)

Previous years I've stuck my 3.5t LWB van in with the general 'commercial vehicle' parking and been fine.

However this year I've now got a 7.5t Iveco lorry - noticeably bigger. It's done up like a motorhome (it's a motorbike race truck technically) and fairly obvious that's what it is.

Will I get away with parking this in the normal parking areas?

I have no intention of living from it (I may spend one night in it to catch up on some sleep, but will keep it subtle if I do :)).

Going for a resale entrance ticket, so should I try and get a CV ticket as well, where I presume it WILL be allowed, or just stick to normal parking.

If you do decide to go in the campervan fields be aware you will probably need 2 tickets if it is over 7.0 metres.

A couple parked next to us last year with their horsebox that had better facilities than our caravan. Due to the height they acted as a sunshade and kept us nice and cool! It did pong a bit inside it though!!

From the official site:

Can I bring a winnebago or extra large caravan?

Yes. However, for all vehicles longer than 7 metres it will be necessary to purchase two caravan/campervan tickets, to cover the extra space required.

ok, no worries with parking in normal parking, I doubt very much you'd be charged extra for the extra 2metre space required. HOWEVER, if you wish to park it in the campervan fields, one you will need a CV ticket and two your vehicle will need cooking or/and sleeping fittings to even get in there, inspections will be done on entrance. In the CV fields a 7.5 tonner will probabaly take no more than a normal pitch size but don't expect to be putting up awnings or extra tents or you'll be taking the piss and security will be demanding extra pitch charges as soon as you turn up.

Just to add, don't even think about living/sleeping in your vehicle if it's parked in the normal car park, even for one night or day. The festival is huge but wanderers stick out like sore thumbs in the normal car parks, it ain't worth the hassle.

Cheers for the thoughts all.

It is a 'proper' motorhome as such, with full cooker/microwave, shower/toilet, kitchen sink, bunk beds/seats that convert to double bed, side windows etc - so absolutely fine on that.

However, add that to the garage area at the back and it's 27' long - so a good chunk over 7m (around the 2m extra mentioned). But then shouldn't really be longer than a volvo estate + caravan say.

It has got big awnings etc, but wouldn't be expecting to use them or have a tent with me - it'd just be somewhere to park it.

I managed to just get tickets before they ran out - I went for a single campervan and single parking ticket along with the entrance tickets.

Hoping I can sell the one I don't use (cost price of course :)) without too much difficulty.

I'll call glastonbury about parking in the normal car park and see what they say.

I've often returned to my van/car in past years and not had problems - (including to have a shower before I realised that using the greenpeace ones in the afternoon meant no queues and it's post sweaty midday). So don't see having a sneaky sleep in my van (I'd have blackout blinds up for a start) would cause any problems at all?

To be fair, I have lived in it for some periods in the past, which probably saved some 'ecos'!

It looks like I'm the only one of people I know from up here going down, but will look to see if anyone wants a lift-share (did last year in my van, nice for the company if nothing else).

It DOES actually have a genny and as I'm now in a house share I DO have a large chest freezer not being used as it goes.... :P.

More reasonably, I realised last night, the small fridge runs on gas as well as 12v, so could definitely be tempted to get that working so I can leave some BBQ meat in it (possibly due to driving a truck like that, I tend to be quite tight paying money for expensive food etc.)
