Styliko
I really wanted to go to Glastonbury this year. October tickets sale = I couldn't get through on the see tickets website. Todays ticket resale = Again failed to get a ticket. However, a friend called me up this morning after all the standard tickets had sold out and told me he could get us coach tickets. So in my desperation to get that golden ticket I said "yeah, book it". I don't want to get the coach because it leaves from Northampton and I live in London. Is it going to be possible for me to get a car parking ticket and take my car instead. Has anyone else done this? Is it even possible? I understand that the coach tickets are given out on the coach (when exactly? on arrival at site?). If my friend was to take the coach would he be able to get our tickets and then meet me at the entrance to the carpark? Can you enter the carpark with only a car parking sticker and no ticket? Are the tickets handed out on the coach any different from the standard tickets? i.e. does it say coach ticket on the ticket? Sorry so many questions in one go Thanks
StoneCircle
The tickets are given out on the coach, sometime through out the journey to stop people happing straight off I guess! I remember this thread from last year and looks a good work round to me assuming the no under 12's on SeeTickets coaces still applies, you do have an under 12 who since purchasing tickets you have decided to take don't you??!! We are a family of 4 going to Glastonbury for the first time we booked ticket + coach for me, wife and oldest. Emailed Seetickets on day of purchase to find out how to buy coach travel for my youngest (under 12 so no registration or ticket required). I got a reply asking me to call when I did it turns out under 12s cannot travel on these coaches. Seetickets booked new tickets plus car parking and are refunding the original order but I had to have funds available to pay for new booking. I thought it was worth mentioning for anyone else is in the same position. Edited April 17, 2011 by StoneCircle

Chocscoffer
I posted this in another thread In 2007 my bestfriend had a coach ticket and I had a standard one. We got to the coach pick up and the driver had all the tickets but wasn't allowed to issue them. She got on the coach and I followed it until we got to a service station about halfway. She then went up to the driver and explained that she had no luggage on the coach (it was all in my car) and her mate (me) was in a car and could she please have her ticket. He relented after her being really nice and flirty! He gave her her ticket and off we went
StoneCircle
Don't know if this is a jokey post so apologies if needed, but this guy can't do that as the under 12's ticket is a different ticket and can't be used by an adult. Coach tickets last year were given as they got off the bus according to my mate who got the bus. I'd just be happy you got one to be honest. If you really don't want to go on the coach that much you could always get a refund and let someone who does want to go on the coach get your ticket in the resale? OSHmusic
Went on the coach from Manchester last year. The tickets were given out half way through the journey. I think the driver was supposed to check everyones names etc, but he had a far more relaxed attitude and simply passed the wad of tickets around and everyone picked out of the pile. I don't recall our details being checked anywhere.

twirlygirl
We are travelling by coach also this year for the first time and we really want to take our car like previous years. We are just grateful that we got through and we can go so we are going to suck it up and get on the bus. I don't think there is a way round it as we have asked just about all we know. I would suggest that your mate in that car take all your stuff and you just meet him/her there and enjoy the ride with all the other passengers and the luxury of only having a small rucksac with snacks in it. I don't think you HAVE to get the coach back so perhaps book now for a train from home to the bus pick up and try and get a reduced rate. Like I said if your mate has all your stuff it shouldn't be too traumatic. On another note.......We are going by coach on the Weds, we have a friend picking me up on the Thurs afternoon so I can come home and get the beers and car. Am I able to buy a carpark ticket even though I have a coach ticket or is it best to chat someone up who has a normal ticket and doesn't need a parking ticket? Cheers in advance and happy festival all x
spikytom
Thanks for this info, I've got several friends who were forced into buying coach tickets when they want to take the car. What would happen if they didn't get the coach at all, would the tickets end up in the box office on site?
diddly-dee
Similar situation myself - only i want to get the (national express) coach from where i live rather than 200 miles out of my way (only package available on resale day by the time i got a booking page up). Crazy system. Nothing to do with carbon footprints, everything to do with seetickets' profits.

strolling wanderer
In response to a couple of queries: Styliko - The festival tickets are the same. *Stevie B* - If a person doesn't get on the coach then the driver will hand it over to the info/ticket box at the Festival site. The ticketless person would then have to make their own way down to the site and then collect the ticket using their booking reference details. saratink
I mentioned it in another thread, if you miss the coach the tickets go the site office, you can just pick get them from there.
PabloCoke
But do you want to risk that? There's every chance that the tickets will disappear, especially if its the same system as someone mentioned where you pick out of a pile

Styliko
It is a risk I am wary of taking. I haven't decided yet. Firstly, I want to find out all my options.

Davo_Dog
I'm in a similar situation. Bought 2 coach packages at the final, final seconds of the resale. (Just wanted tickets and didn't really care about where from at the time) My ticket is from Cardiff on the Wednesday morning and my wife's is from Plymouth on the Thursday morning. We live in Leicester!!!! My wife would have to drop me in Cardiff on Wednesday morning then drive 2 and half hours past Glastonbury to Plymouth and stay in a hotel for the night. The thing is, 2 of our friends are going and there's space in the car for us. I'm thinking of deliberately missing the coaches and going with our friends and hopefully collecting the tickets when we get there. What other choice do i have ??? cham08
If what is said before is true and the driver drops the uncollected tickets off on site then your wifes ticket will not be there until some time on Thursday. Depends what time your friends were planning on going down.

ukslim
Then me and the Mrs sleep in the van in the car park. Sounds crazy but it might just work
JodiB
I really hope this is not the case but... I asked Seetickets if my ticket would end up at the ticket collections place (box office) if I did not get the coach? They said definitely not. It is imperative that you get the coach. If you don't get the coach you will not gain entry to the festival. As I said I hope this is not the case but just SeeTickets being dramatic and telling lies.
