hi,

how well do they check the photo i'd on the tickets when entering the site?? i'm a party of 14 but we only got 12 tickets (stag do). some of the people in the group are willing to give their tickets to others members in the group, is this advisable??? problem is none of them look at all like each other!

any info is greatly appreciated. p.s, i'm sincerely not touting, it's just that one of the two without tickets is the best man, bit a screw up when purchasing!!

thanks

If he really wants to get in, he could always turn up Sunday/Monday night before the festy (when there'll be less security) and jump the fence. This thing looks like it's purpose built for fence jumping:

Might even be able to pitch a small tent somewhere discreet, and pass himself off as crew :P

Just an idea.

12 of you have tickets 2 dont.

so when your in 2 of you are going to give 2 of your mates your tickets and bands i take it .

........... haven't you forgotten the pass outs cos even with the other 2 things [ticket and bands ]you can not get in even if they looked alike ..

if you how to get pass outs please let know i could do with one or two. B)

I'm sure the security team is wise to pretty much any fence jumping technique you can think of.

People do manage to sneak in, but he'd be taking quite a gamble. Dunno what the penalty is if you get caught. Best case scenario, a wasted journey.

Worst case scenario is two of you just give it a miss and find a second best man. I can't say I really approve of people trying to get in without a ticket, but if I did this is what I would do in your situation. ;)

The two without tickets stay in the myhab area while the others sus out the best time (day and night)and gate (you might need to travel around to another entrance) to get in and out without the ID being thoroughly checked, this would involve deliberately getting your tickets mixed up so the ID's obviously don't match and then apologising for the mix up while swapping for the correct ones (appearing a bit drunk and saying sorry several times would help). Once this is done (or before) one of the group with a valid ticket should take in a tent and equipment so it can be set up ready for the two without tickets. And finally the two of the group without tickets after swapping tickets wrist bands etc. get in through the gate that has been chosen and stay permanently on site, they will also need to make sure they wear long sleeves at all time as there are stewards on the look out for people without wrist bands

i'm not intending trying to get the full 14 in. Two of the lads have simply offered to give the whole weekend up (stay at home) and pass their tickets onto two of the other lads if the photo checks ain't too stringent!!!

Heard an interesting programme on the radio the other day with Prof Mike Burton, Psychology, Glasgow University, a specialist in face recognition. He says: "People are shocking at matching people to photographs - and most especially if they don't know the person." So he then goes on to question whether all the efforts to set up photo ID on all kinds of things has been worthwhile when the majority of people are so very poor at using it. It's just too inaccurate for all practical purposes.

Apparently even the best are only 97% accurate, that's well over 5000 mistakes at Glastonbury and around 6000 a day at Heathrow!

Get there first thing Wednesday morning and it'll be manic, yes they'll check the tickets but not as thoroughly as later in the day. How good are the photos? Is there any passing resemblance? You may want to ask your mate if he doesn't mind loaning you some sort of ID for the weekend as if there's any doubt that is surely the first thing they will ask to see. Maybe an old bank card with his name on or something.

My daughter and I were very carefully scrutinised by the steward checking our tickets, who as I was walking away called out "Oh David?", when I turned back gave a big grin and said "have a great festival". I wonder if this was checking to see if I responded to the name printed on the ticket. She was doing a very thorough job, got my daughter to remove glasses and hat as well and confirm her address.

This was most impressive, she was working hard for her ticket. Shame it was all overturned by someone sprinting through moments later!
