radish
No. Road traffic accidents caused by speeding or undue care or attention are neither unpredictable nor unusual. They're somebody's fault, usually one particular person's. Yes, but some accidents are a lot more avoidable than others. The majority of accidents can be avoided if drivers are sensible 90% of the time.

ste4_20
You do understand that insurance is based entirely on statistical probability of various factors dont you? A sensible driver only has to make a mistake once and if 18 - 21 year olds are more likely to do that between 00.00 and 06.00 then the solution is obvious
jono_01
I'm loving reading this topic. I work in insurance - I have worked in customer service, underwriting, fraud. I have also worked for a firm of solicitors defending injury claims. I now deal with commercial (fleet) insurance. I feel that I can say I have a good perspective from most angles. Have to laugh because no one is wrong in what they're saying here. Insurance companies can be total bast***s at times but on the whole, no one is worse than the other. Same for most of the PI lawyers. At least with the introduction of the MOJ, my personal views are that claims are settling for less - the solicitors costs are fixed where damages don't exceed £10,000 so they just want a fast settlement (makes the genuine one's stand out too). Only problem is, you get more try ons - it simply isn't cost effective to fight them all. When Jackson comes in; things may change yet again. Perhaps much more drastically? I'd like to get involved but don't have the time hehe One thing I will say is that the majority of insurers can lose hand over foot in terms of profits for years on end. When their gross written premiums are up, and they have a profitable year - it's the investments they make which make their money

treacle
For the record, my son called the co op about this insurance and it was £300 more expensive than his lowest quote elsewhere
