Trains back on monday

Just tryign to book tickets for the train from/back to London on the monday. Will they be checking to see if your ticket is for the exact time/date, or will they just pile everyone on and just check that you have a valid ticket at all?

You have virtually no chance of getting through with an off-peak ticket until the last peak-time train has gone.

There are trains going in many directions from Castle Cary and they have seperate queueing areas for each direction, only letting each group onto the platforms when their train is due.

I think your original question is about having a ticket for a specific train.

They will just pile you onto the next available train. I have been in exactly that situation.

I changed at Reading onto another train, that was not the one my ticket was for -- I don't know what would have happened if they checked it, but, Monday daytime, nobody did.

I suspect you'd be able to argue that you tied to get on the right train but weren't able to.

yeah, so say I have a ticket for the 7.45, but I don't manage to get on that and have to get on the 8.45 or 9.45. Will that be a problem?

For the train leaving Castle Cary, it definitely won't be a problem.

For any train you change onto, it *might* be a problem, but I reckon you'd get away with it.
