nickid
Hi Managed to get tickets and campervan ticket in resale. We are taking our teenage daughter and are coming from the midlands. We will have to leave Sunday night as she has an exam Monday morning. We booked an East ticket as we felt this would be better but are now worried that the walking etc will be too much. We will not be out late on the nights and I am now wondering if I should try to change it for a west campervan field ticket instead. Advice please
James Bolivar
The general consensus is that the West field is less of a trek from the main stages than the East; though the East CV area is so large it looks like you could be unlucky enough to be miles out. We went for West because it was likely to be quieter and came with no dire warning regarding Hills of Death.
ukslim
While West might be convenient for the main stages, East is handier for the interesting parts of the festival. I suppose it depends what you mean by late. If your intention is to go to bed as soon as the Pyramid stage headliner finishes, then West is a good idea. With East, you could catch one more show on your way to bed, or just soak up a bit more atmosphere en-route to the camper. I've just emailed my mate, who's camper I'll be sleeping in, to try and make sure we're in East.

redmosquito
East really isn't that much of a trek and the fabled hill of death really isn't that bad. If you have your young daughter with you asked to be put in the family cv field and you'll be near to ped gate c anyway. I'm sure your daughter will be fine. My wife was 8 months preggers last year and managed fairly easily with the walk back to East. I'm sure your daughter will be much fitter than she was! duggie20
staying in east cv field or camping on site whichever way you do it you will still walk 10 miles a day or more so an extra treck back to c/v field will be nothing.
spg
east every time for me, i enjoy the walk back (saddleback stage and fire stage etc) and the hill aint that bad. my daughter has managed it every year since she was 5 (luxury of a push chair before that) si
grumpyhack
Never stayed in West so can't comment on that. We went East last year and have chosen to do the same this year. Good location for the Acoustic, which is one of our main areas. I suspect it's six of one and half a dozen of the other. Just be grateful you've got a ticket. A lot of my friends have failed even in the resale.

nickid
Looks like it does not matter which campervan field we use, however can you advice me of the time we should set off so we can get our daughter to her exam on Monday. Travelling with a caravan we need to be back in the Midlands about 3am Thanks
ukslim
I don't think you should expect any serious delays getting out on Sunday night.

onthebeach
Have everything packed up and ready to leave before the evening acts. Then, if you're watching say the headliner on The Pyramid stage leave the site before the last encore and you should be fine getting pretty much straight out. 15-20 minutes later and you might find that there's a fair few other people with the same idea. jameshunt
Yes, this should work. Last year we had to be back for work/school on the Monday, so had everything packed up and ready to go and left (regrettably) about 20mins before the end of Stevie Wonder. As we were in the Family Campervan Field (E22 I think) we did'nt have too far to walk. The only problem was we had to weave in and out of the tents that had been pitched randomly alongside the campervans to make our exit but once through the obstacle course we were straight out with no queuing. Just a tad worried about this for this year as my son has an exam on the Monday so we cannot be too late back! Would it be very 'frowned upon' if we had to move some of the tents to make our exit if we cannot get out?
onthebeach
Normally the tents aren't allowed to block any of the rows. Any campervan or caravan should be able to leave at any time unobstructed. Of course, it's not a perfect world so some people do pitch their tents in the access lanes, but that should be sorted out pretty swiftly by the fire marshalls as they need those to be clear at all times during the festival for emergency access. If someone was blocking one of those access roads then they should already have been told to move their tents and in a worst case scenario I'd simply take them down myself. Blocking those access roads which are down each campervan row is extremely dangerous in case there was a fire engine or ambulance that had to get there. rischbrit
Fire marshals tend to be on the big tall silver scaffold towers that over look the fields. There are several dotted around each field to keep a birds eye view look out for fires.
