The Dawg
The truth. GTC have done a great job, the parking is 2 mins from the tent at most. You can bring your own tents if you want, if you have one it is a good idea. The GTC tents are basic but ok, there is a lot of people in the camp already and you may have to put up your own tent. In general the main site is very muddy but the GTC field is fine.

reticent
How are you guys finding the site, a day in!? Stoked you're up above it, away from the action a bit or do you wish you were amongst it all? Also, I'm still a little sure about how you actually get to the camp site. Do you enter the main area, continue to those teepees and theres a gate of some sort to pennard hill? Is someone able to clarify, I have a lot of gear and would prefer to go straight there to drop it off rather than wandering around lost! Bluearsedfly
Really, you not ready any of this thread? Well, you enter the festival via a resident only lane, we are using Stickleball Hill towards Pennard Hill Farm. You park near the GTC area so no real hike with your gear, prob 20 mins max. reticent
yes, I've read the thread but the only mention of getting there that I recall has been how how you get there in a car, ie driving straight there. I'm coming via a bus to the main entrance.
reticent
If you are arriving by coach/bus you could be hiking the entire length of the festival site. Edited June 23, 2011 by reticent

reticent
that was a serious bloody walk I did when I got in on Thursday. Must have taken a good hour and a half I reckon in people traffic and mud, with a big pack on!
Bluearsedfly
So we arrived at GTC field Thursday about 8pm to be told by the check in that they had run out of pre erected tents, here you go and gave us 2 tents to go pitch ourselves. not best impressed let me tell you, understand they did their best following those twats Myhab pulling the rug last minute. Fairly chilled camping area, some would say souless and no atmosphere. Not enough showers but toilets better than the regulars down on site. Will definatley be seeking refund through credit card company. By the way, that hill at the end of the day is ridiculous, rumour is they are putting buggies on for 2013, won't be bothering again as it nearly killed me! blue6field
Got there around 8pm on Wednesday managed to get 2 tents next to each other for us and friends who were arriving the next day, The tents were basic but seved our needs. The place was organised and the staff very helpfull. It was obvious that the GTC hadn't had the time to errect all the tents and that unfortunately some would have to put their own up. Wristband allocation was easy and so was entry in and out the site. The campsite was quiet at night, secure and on the whole what we payed for. Yes there could have been more showers and toilets but cosidering the timescale the GTC had to organise this I thought they did an amazing job and would like to thank them and Michael Eavis again for saving the day. I would definately camp there again as the the plusses cetainly outway the hill at the end of the night
ellybelly
Has Anyone had any further MYHAB response??
Pinhead
Worked the Pennard Gate during my shifts - felt sorry for you people having to do that final climb up the hill. Got asked by a couple of people if I'd take their stuff up for them - sorry, not a porter Myhab were supposed to have paid for the Pennard Gate set-up, security and stewarding as well, so Eavis has picked up the tab on this one too. Quite a few of these private commercial campsites now outside the festival - quite a local diversification economy of scale emerging amongst Eavis' neighbouring farmers it seems. Can't reccommend them though myself considering how fragile their business plans seem in practice. Danger is too it will lead to more gates in the fence and more areas for security compromise. Denip
A couple of my friends had booked with Myhab and were very impressed (and relieved) to discover that someone from Green Fields had taken over the site. They arrived at lunchtime on Wednesday and seemed very happy with the set up. They did say the hill was a killer though.
r0cky
GTC did a fantastic job. I managed to put up one of their tents, not easy to put up, and if you don't get it perfect, all the plastic poles snap (especially the top cross-piece) and the whole thing collapses. Site was very quiet, got some great sleep. Found a few people without wristbands in the campsite though, and they were coming in to use the showers.
